YES CAMBODIA!!!!  Although, I do think that you should experience Vietnam as well... but i love love LOVE Cambodia.  Definitely don't try to split 11 days between Vietnam and Cambodia- One or the other.  Be prepared to fall in love with Cambodia.  Since going, my bucket list now contains "volunteering in a Cambodian hospital".

Again, I have an itinerary for Cambodia (6 days between Siem Reap and Phnom Penh).  The other 4 I would also recommend going to the south for some beaches (got awesome stories from some Aussies that we met down there).  If you would like to read my blog, send me a message... I've got a write up on both Cambodia and Vietnam as well.  I'm so jealous you might be going to Cambodia^^

I got a vacation coming up in August for 8-9 days. I want to go to Vietnam to see beautiful country and eat delicious pho (a must...a definite must)

9 days isn't a lot and cosidering the wet season/monsoon. i don't really know what to do or where to visit.

can you more experienced travellers direct me on a path that will be filled with joy and laughter and beautiful scenery for 8-9 days?

thank you so much!

I assume you know that you will neeed a VISA? - assuming you are from the US,UK ect - I dont think Koreans needs one.......... Anyway -

9 days isn't long - I guess you will want to go to both ho chi min city (Saigon) and Hanoi - It's either 24hrs + on a train or fly........

Book early though as when I went I spoke to some people who couldn't get a flight or train up to Hanoi from Saigon because it was sooooooo busy!

btw - 3-4 days in Saigon is enough to do everything in and around the area (if you hurry!)

I wouldn't worry TOO much about it being monsoon season. I went there last August. I did rain almost every night in Saigon, but the days were clear. And to be honest the rain was more than welcomed since it cooled the air down and got rid of all the humidity. In Hanoi it didn't rain at all when I was there. But maybe I was just lucky.

I strongly suggest staying in one region.  The country is way too long, so traveling can take a long time.  And who wants to take an airplane in the middle of vacation?

I suggest that you go to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and spend a few days there, then explore the Mekong Delta.  There's great towns and cities, large and small there.  The pace is really relaxed and it's fairly easy to get around.  If you have any other questions, please send me a message.
