Japan for a night

Hello~

I have an overnight layover in Haneda airport in Japan. I arrive at 11 pm on a wednesday night  and leave thursday at 9am.

The hotel next to the airport is about 22000 Yen or 250$.. I don't want to spend this if I can avoid it. Do you think I can sleep in the airport? Or will I have to go through immigrations and pick up my luggage?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I haven't done it in Tokyo, but these people have!  It looks like it's not a bad airport to crash in!  Ughhh sleeping in airports is probably my least favorite thing.

It's not narita though. But thanks for the website! I wonder if I'll have to get my luggage  and go through immigration though....?

I would expect that you would need to claim your luggage and pass through immigration, as you would normally do that upon arrival in a country anyways, though that doesn't mean that you can't sleep there.  You can just move right in to the new terminal where your connecting flight is, the only problem being that you won't be able to check your luggage for a while.

You should go out in Japan for a day.  Haneda airport isn't as far away from the city as Narita.  You can also sleep in net cafes there- it is common for people to do- there is a night pack you can buy and you can stay for like 8 hours- probably around 1000-1600 yen.  The net cafe rooms there are cushier than Korea.  there is a closed in cubicle option and you can lay out in most of them. Have fun!
