OK. But, remember, teachers need information about local school funding because it matters when looking for jobs, and job security with GEPIK.

Okay, I'll provide another suggestion since my previous one was ignored. When you, or any other teacher, apply for a teaching position at a Gyeonggi public school ask the simple question, "How is the position funded?"

I realize you want GEPIK to provide a list, but they're not going to do it. It doesn't matter why. It's not going to happen, and so teachers need to find alternative means for finding the information. (I consider that a part of due diligence.)

Unless you speak fluent Korean, good luck asking "who funds my position." ㅋㅋㅋ

It does matter why information is withheld from foreign teachers by an organization, GEPIK, that is supposed to be helping us.

Lacyfan,

You're labouring under a 'misaprehension' -
GEPIK is not here to help you. They're here to put native English-speaking bums in Gyeonggi-do PS 'seats'. You're a foreigner and they could not 'care less' about you (unless it affects them).

Sincerely,
CM

Sorry, but I understand what is happening. I'm the one challenging GEPIK to do something to help the foreign teachers in their system. There's at least one other poster on this thread, and site, who is a "true believer" in the GEPIK leadership. Tell him about GEPIK.

This is good news because a wise person once said, "Posting on an internet forum is not going to accomplish anything."

After four years at the same school in Gyongnamsan-do I'm being replaced by "new blood" (I hope it's the right type  ::)) who 'just happens' to be 1 mil. less expensive per month.

The principal is already inviting the 'old boys' to the room salon.  >:(

What is the luxurious lifestyles of Westerners?? oh my..

A 4-person family having a HOUSE with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, garage, swimming pool, 7 TVs, xbox, playstation, wii, 2 ipads, 4 smart phones, 3 e-book readers, and 7 computers. Back home that's considered solid middle class. Here, it's way more.

I took "the luxurious lifestyles of Westerners" to mean 'in K-land'. Certainly my 'one room' is better than sleeping in the street. I've seen PS 'noobs' thrown into - literally flooded (K-onstruction is a different topic), mould-infested, roach-infested 'shoe boxes' a 'western' dog wouldn't live in... of course, if the dog were cognisant, it would know it's not going to be tortured and consumed by an ajoshie who has a 'blood flow' problem.  ::)

7 computers and 7 TVs?
 :o

That's just a waste of money.
This is a crisis. A large crisis. In fact, if you got a moment, it's a twelve-story crisis with a magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24-hour portage, and an enormous sign on the roof, saying 'This Is a Large Crisis'.

Seven is a lucky number.  ;) I was watching 'Secret Millionare U.S.A.' on BBC Knowledge, thinking a NET in K-land would be 'extatic'  ;D if presented with the 'digs' at which the millionare was 'shuddering'.  :o

Sorry...I was on vacation and didn't get to see this until today.  Lacyfan....you are not 'challenging GEPIK to do something'...you are posting on an internet forum!  There's a big difference!  Have you contacted anyone at GEPIK?  Have you asked them if there is a list (I mean...it seems to me that you are working on the assumption that there's no list...but you haven't asked anyone)?  Have you spoken to GEPIK at all about this?

There are two things that annoy me about this site....the first is when people get all worked up about rumor and innuendo without bothering to check their facts...the second is when people take pot shots at people and say they are 'true believers' or 'apologists' or what have you, simply because they don't fall for every bs story about what is going on with GEPIK, or Korea, or the moon landing!  Lacyfan, you claim that information is being 'withheld', yet you've never asked for it.

In case you didn't hear. Daine Bae resigned.Grace from Gepik sent this attachment which I'll quote most of. There's a chart but I skipped it.

Dear GEPIK Teachers,

I hope  you  are  all adjusting well to  the  second  semester of the  Korean school  year.

Today,  I  would  like  to  make   an  important  announcement.  I  will  be  leaving   the   GEPIK program  and   31st     of  August  will be  my  last  day  with  GEPIK.   I  have  been   working  for GEPIK since  2006,  and  it has  been  a pleasure  to  work with  head  supervisors,  supervisors, and  of  course,  my  talented  districted  coordinators.  Over  the  past  few years,  I  have  met  many   GEPIK  teachers  who   shared  the   same   passion   as  me   to   brighten   the   English education system of South  Korea.  I have  formed  many  friendships  that  I will cherish,  and  it’s been  great working  with GEPIK.  I would  like to thank all our teachers for their  support,  and  I believe  the  GEPIK program will grow  stronger under the new leadership.

With  that  being said, I  am  happy  to  announce that  Ms. Ary Kim has  been  appointed as the   new  head   coordinator  of  GEPIK.  Ms.  Ary  Kim  has   worked   as  the   Ansan   district  coordinator  for  the  last  two  years,  and  during those two  years,  she  has  been  a  diligent and  caring  worker  for  our  teachers. I  am  sure  she  is fit to  be  the  head  coordinator of GEPIK  and   will lead   the  program  successfully.   I  hope   all  our  teachers  will  continue  to support each  other  and  our program.

Also,  some of  our  districts   have  been   reassigned to  a  different   coordinator.  The  dates next  to  some of the  areas  refer  to  when  the  changes will take  effect. Please,  look at  the chart  below  for the changes:
***I skipped  the chart ***
Once  again,  it’s  been  a  pleasure  working  for  you  and  with  GEPIK.  I  wish  all the best  for your future. Thank  you  and  farewell.

Sincerely,

Dain Bae

I have always found Dain Bae to be less than helpful. Wenise Kim, her predecessor, was much better at helping teachers.
