Grade 2 - Lesson 1 Advice Giving Game

No clue where I came across this (possibly this site), but I think it may go well with this lesson.

So i have come in today and been told i am just to read from the CD! that sounds great(!!!!!!) however i dont have the cd!

If you don't have the CD yet, the dialogue for the orange book can be found in the back of the green book. Just look up the page number.

Well I suppose I had better post my first lessons as I started this thread and will feel bad if I don't offer something - but they are not great. As always there was a huge amount of time to fill and no real idea what to plan for, then suddenly I was told 'follow the book, your first lesson is in an hour' and I threw these together - 'borrowed' in part from other lessons on this site.

Hopefully my lessons will get better and once the pace has slowed a bit I will try and put some more effort into structuring stuff to go with the book. In the meantime, use these if you also need a quick fix. I made a simple template for each class to fill in during discussion/talk time so they had notes to use too.

Hello All.

I have these books as well and have lesson plans for all first and second grade (I taught the material last year). I am only in charge of the two pages of SPEAKING, not listening.

I will attach all of the lessons and games I have so far when I have time tonight.

Thanks for those who have already shared! I need new ideas for this coming year (and some 3rd grade ideas since the third grade just switched over to this same series).

I also have these books! So glad I came across this site. I will be posting lessons as i complete them. As of now I am just doing a Self Intro. At my school I am only responsible for the speaking portion of each lesson, so the plans will be only for that portion. Looking forward to sharing!

I got here in September and we used this book last year and using it again this year. I am just doing a class on classroom rules, introduction and then an "about me" worksheet for the students. If you haven't done an intro class I think it is a good way to get more personable with your students. I made it a game and put the students into teams of four and had them go to the board and write down what they thought the answer was next to their team number. The more pictures you use of yourself the better it is I think. So please note: YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE PICTURES on the ppt or the students will be really confused. I am also attaching an "About Me" worksheet that I am having them fill out but so far only one of three classes has gotten to this step as the game has taken almost the entire 45 minutes. The box that is on there is where they can draw a picture of themselves. Also this isn't really helpful for now but all of my lessons for the second half of the book are on the wiki page I made for my school http://dongincheonmiddleschoolenglish.wikispaces.com/ I will post lesson plans when I get to them this week. Thanks for that Alex. I was looking for a new, appropriate space to put my lessons and other stuff for my school. I used to have an Epals account and had all kinds of stuff on there but I can't seem to access it anymore, so I'll follow your lead and do my own wiki space. Now I just need an extra 12 hours in the day to get everything up and running and posted on various sites...

I use these books now, apparently. I was designing all of my own lessons up until now but I found out I have to teach the speaking section to grade 1 and 2. I definitely want to get in on trading lesson plans. Right now I don't know what to do!

I have been told to just work from the Book only so i apologise in advance for how Dull and Boring this is. I have just picked on something from the Text book and then i have trIed to pad it out.
Honestly this is how it is going to be all year !

Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciacted
I dont have power point Just Chalk Board and Books.

I teach out in the boonies, so these games are pretty simple.

So we have the same books, very cool. How are they treating you? I need to do listening the first week and then speaking the next for about 15-20 minutes from the book. The rest I can do as I wish. Attached are my lesson plans for unit 1A (listening) for grades 1-3.

I've attached their awesome guide on dealing with older students called, Teaching Teenagers. I personally really enjoyed the read, some does have to be adapted as it's structured towards English as the students 1st language.

I'm also using this book and plan to take a lot from this thread so I figured I'd post my lessons. I apologize that the lesson plans aren't too user friendly (they're really just notes for myself) but you may like some of the individual activities, ppts, or worksheets I use. Keep in mind I'm only responsible for "Speaking," "Speaking Activities," and "Sounds" and the rest is basically up to me. Also I only teach grade 1 and 2. If some of the activities look familiar it's probably cause I took them from this site.
