Has anybody had any experience with using a non-Seoul, closer to Mokpo, international airport?

I used the airport in Gwangju to fly to Seoul, and then to Canada.  It's small and mostly local, but everything seems to run efficiently.  I had no problems.

Do you mean Muan International Airport?

It's open but only has limited flights. I think so far there are only a couple of flights to Japan and maybe China? (Thus making it an "International" airport)

I'm not sure where you can get more info about it though. Sorry.

Thanks for the help; my only experience is limited to catching the 2:30 am bus to Incheon so I didn't know what the other options are.  And Kansang Travel couldn't find any planes leaving for China out of Muan.

I've flown to both China and Japan out of Busan, which was far more convenient when I was living in Suncheon.

A few of the Japanese airports are SE Asia hubs, which means that you can even continue on to Malaysia or wherever from there.

The Muan airport seems to exist, but I haven't heard of anyone - Korean or waygookin - flying in or out of there yet.
