What did you do on vacation lesson
« on: March 01, 2011, 03:41:58 PM »
So school is starting back up for most folks. Here is a short lesson on what you did on vacation. It is for low-medium level middle school 7-8th graders. Feel free to use and or adapt it to fit your needs.

For 6th graders 1st years a good beginning class to introduce and gauge language is to write a few words on the board mine would look something like this 24, 3, spanish, USA, pizza.

Tell them these words describe you. Then ask them what they think the words mean or represent. 24 is my age, I have 3 brothers speak spanish, am from the USA and like to eat pizza. this takes about 15 mins depending on level and how many words you put on the board. After this have them create their list of words of themselves and have them guess what they mean with their partner. At the end they present to the class what they learned about their partner. Let me know how this plays out for folks. Best of luck and welcome back to school!

I used this as an Introductory lesson last year. I wrote random facts about myself on the board such as my age, favourite colour, my country, names of friends, etc. I then divided the class into groups and we played a guessing game.  The students had to guess how each word was related to me, the team who guessed correctly got a point and I erased to word from the board.  They had a blast^^

Great ideas everyone!
I have been using this method in a rather boring manner but your new ideas will help spice things up.
Thanks!
