A list of my new co-teachers, or a schedule, or a calendar, or anything. And aside from telling me to have 4 months of lesson plans completed by today, my "handler" has been completely MIA - never in her office, nor responding to her phone.

It'd be really nice to know where, when and with whom I'm teaching on Monday.

*vent*

Also, even though I've been here for six months, at our opening ceremony this week, every single teacher and admin staff was introduced to the students and walked on stage to be greeted by them, except for the lowly native teacher.

Not overly negative, my school doesn't treat me too badly - it just neglects me a little, sometimes.

*cowboyshirt is too sensitive*

UPDATE EDIT: I just got told that I can get my schedule on Monday, sometime. (Classes start on Monday).
*Frown*

UPDATE EDIT #2:
An teacher I've never spoken to before just came up to me and this followed:

KT: "Oh, hello! Your schedule will be ready some time next week, maybe. I am making it!"
Me: "But... um... my classes start on Monday."
KT: "Maybe!"
Me: "I think I need my schedule for when my classes start, so I can go to them"
KT: "Next week! Nice to meet you, have a good day!"

The first week is toughes___control chaos. Hey the Korean teachers are running around too (but they 're use this "controll chaos"). :)

Just think about your next exotic vacation...researching flights, destinations and the like.  That usually helps me when I get frustrated about the lack of organization at my school.

School has been in session for two days now, and I still do not have a schedule.  It looks like I will not get one today, either - seeing as my coteacher appears very hungover!  LOL

Hang in there everyone who is waiting for their schedules - soon enough we might be longing for the day that we had no idea what was happening. :D

**UPDATE**  I just got half of my schedule and it looks like I do not have time for lunch on Monday and Tuesdays!  Classes from 9AM - 1:40PM.
I liked it better when I didn't know my schedule!

I really feel for ya man; I hate it when a school decides to isolate their foreign teacher. I lucked out this year. My school not only gave me my books and schedule a week ahead of time, I've also gotten a chance to meet with all my co teachers and they all took the time to discuss with me what they expected out of the class. This school is out in country but they have their shit together it seems. Where do you teach cowboy?

I only got one, of two, teacher's guides yesterday. The funny thing was is that we started classes yesterday and I still don't have the other teacher's guide.  It happens to us all, but being upset with it won't change anything.  Just roll with it, and you'll feel much better.  ;D

I think people should get away from the idea that our schools are purposefully 'isolating' us by not giving us schedules and not introducing us at assembly etc. Try not to be offended. We are just not a priority and its as simple as that. Rather than then thinking oh lets not introduce the native teacher they just don't think about us. Our teachers are busy and we are not forefront in their minds. While this is not great its just the way it is, unfortunately.

No, no, I realize that Busanveggie - it's just a little disappointing to know what a low priority some of us are. It's not malicious, it's just... neglectful.

I teach at a private / public high school in Seoul.

I was in the same situation. As much as I'd hate to hear about your experience, misery does love company.

I try not to take it personally, but that's why I hang out more with my students than the adults in this school. At least my students always try to talk to me and even help translating what is being said.  :) I am very grateful for my students!

I prefer being neglected and left to my own devices than being micro managed.

I think this happens to the Korean teachers as well, I don't think we are alone in this. My new co-teacher is frustrated with being at a new school and information sharing.

I hear ya!  If it weren't for the students, this job would be pretty sucky.

i agree....i'd rather be left to my own devices than be micro-managed.

my classes start monday, maybe, and i don't have a schedule....but, i have my opening lesson ready so whatever they throw at me....i'm ready.  i fully expect to teach monday, so if i come in and don't have to...well, then i get another day to keep my chair warm.  :)

i just got the new textbooks today....but, i've been here awhile so i know how things work a bit....in a conversation with the head teacher of the school....a very nice woman, i mentioned i was excited to see the new textbooks....she was a bit surprised that i didn't have them....not an hr later i saw her at my coteachers' desk telling her to give me the books.  :)

play by their rules and try not to stress out....everything works out in the end....

I just wrote out my schedule with my CTs. Barely 48 hours after school started - that must be some kind of record. I managed to get five lessons, including with what's traditionally been the lowest level class, on Friday, the day lessons are most likely to be cancelled. Monday I don't teach until 1.50PM so I have all morning to prepare for the week. Not bad apart from the fact that too many lessons are back-to-back.

Total Cluster @)#(# at my school right now. I just found out that I will be teaching 22 classes per week, instead of the 24 they told me (Which I was cool with, cause I would be getting paid extra). I found out today, sorry not happening anymore. So I will have to skip two classes each week. I am also cool with this.

My 5th CT not taking this lightly.  Last year, she hired a new teacher to take her place, into the second semester. Because she could not handle the kids anymore. and we had extra money in the budget (i guess we could have used that money so i would teach those extra hours  )

Anyway. I am ready to go for monday. And am ready for half my classes to be cancelled as well.  :P At this point. Man, I just enjoy the chaos that is my school on passing along the info. I teach 5 and 6. I will teach with 4CT. Total mess. Especially in 5th because the head CT hired someome else to teach in her place for half a lesson each week. .
