I have been in Korea for more than two years now and I decided it was time for a name change here in Waygook.
I changed my name to
confusedsafferinkorea because of what my VERY patient Korean co-teacher said to me after my myriad of questions I asked her one day, such as.... ' Why do Korean Teachers have to ask their Principal's permission to go abroad in THEIR vacation'? 'Why can't they plan English camps one year in advance so we don't have to pay the high-priced last-minute ticket prices of the airlines'? and 'why didn't anyone tell me there are no classes today'?.
Her reply to me, with a huge grin on her face, was....'There are a lot of things that confuse you in Korea'.
So, there you have it, I am officially confused....

Having said that, I want to add that I LOVE my School, my Principal, my amazing (and beautiful) co-teachers, my students (elementary) and the amazing subject teachers in my office, who greet me every morning with a huge smile and make me feel like a million dollars always.
