Oh thank you so much!

I have a front loading drum washing machine and was wondering if anyone could tell me the best type of detergent to use...
When I went to HomePlus with my coteacher, she picked up a blue bag of powder detergent... it does the job but I really want my clothes to be soft and smell fresh and pretty afterwards (since I don't have a dryer to accomplish that with).

Any suggestions on which brands to use?

I would really hate to get the wrong detergent and end up having my washing machine foam over!

Any of the ones with a picture of a drum machine on them will be fine, you can usually see from the pictures on the front.  They might even say 'drum' in English sometimes.

Main thing is to get some fabric softner thats what makes it soft.

Thanks for this guide!

I'm going to try this out... I've had to give my laundry to my sister to do this past week!
Though it doesn't help the fact that I didn't do my own laundry back at home either...  :blank:

Wish me good luck!

Do you recommend the spin dry, since dryers are very hard to come by?

For top-loading machines, do you pour in the detergent powder in the same basket your put your clothes in? If so, detergent comes first, right?

I also noticed some powder in the bottom left corner, but it was just a hole that led to the edge of the basket.

Also, how much detergent powder should I pour in? For medium-sized loads...

Thanks, this helped me get my first few loads done.  Although I noticed that the washer has a kinda musty smell... And it doesn't appear to have the "self-cleaning" mode.  Anyone know if I need there are filters or anything that need to be cleaned? I tried looking around inside and whatnot but didn't want to rip my machine apart.

Dryers aren't very hard to come by at all.
If you want to spend the money you can get one today.
Every superstore or department store or electronic appliance store or Internet shopping outlet sells them.
It's just that the typical NET, employer-supplied apartment doesn't have one.
Using the same logic, we could say that kimchi refrigerators are very hard to come by even though damn near every Korean family has one.

Whenever I put my clothes in the washing machine they tie themselves in knots. I never had this problem in America. Does anyone else know how to stop this?

Buy laundry bags.  They're mesh zipper bags.  Put the tangle-prone clothes in there.  Buy them at Daiso, Homeplus, wherever.  Easy peasy.

Easier said than done when you live in the boonies, but I will try it as soon as I can make it to a Si.

I think "Boonies" can actually be defined as not having easy access to a Homeplus/LotteMart/E-mart, or even a Daiso.
Sounds like a hassle.

Great, thanks so much. I have been here 10 months and I still randomly press buttons until the water starts pouring in!  :o

On my second day in Korea, I tried translating some of the cycle options with the Bing translator and got this beauty: "For example o0 Farrah Fawcett promiscuity lately Tak." I too had taken to randomly pushing buttons until a friend helped me out!!

Thank's a lot, I'm going to print this out. You guys must throw in some pigeon softener, but be stingy a little goes a long way.

Thank you for the great translation. Wish I had read this post before randomly pressing all the buttons.
