My principal pointed at a sausage yesterday and then mentioned my name.

My real name is Tony, and that is important for the real quote... My previous principal got drunk (nothing new there) and kept hodling my hand and telling the other teacher, while showing them my hand "I love Tony! Yes, I love Tony!!!" Over and over... compliment? I think he was referring to my teaching ability (I hope...)

The other one that I thought interesting is when my ex-co-teacher said "Tony, your English is better than those from England and Australia. I am very happy!" I thought it was bazaar, but neato. I think he was referring to pronunciation, and that was a good compliment because I worked hard to make my English clear for non-native speakers.

And the oddest one that didn't make me feel good in the end was from my direct-previous-co-teacher who said after I complained that she never came to class "Wow, Tony, you are the best English teacher. I am so impressed with your teaching. Wow, really great! Why do you need me? Your English is great and the students can learn everything from you! I am not so good. Please, work hard. I know you are great!"

I like this one the best.
 :D

"You know, when I talk with you, it's almost like you are a Korean....almost."

Gee, thanks...

Hell, at least it was honest.
"I love him and there's nothing you or I can do about it. He is just awesome!"

I found out yesterday that our new Principal was very impressed with how well I played volleyball and now wants to be able to talk to me.  He is now practicing English every day for 20 minutes  with my coteacher.  His goal is to learn enough to have a proper conversation with me - I took it as a compliment that he would make that much of an effort. I am not sure how happy my co teacher is at having to teach him, but she just laughed about so I guess it is ok.
I also get complimented a lot on how well I use chopsticks (as I drop my kimchi in my lap).

The best one I ever received was two days ago. My coteacher told me that she is very impressed at how I built good relationships with the students, but still manage to keep their respect in the classroom. She was especially happy that I knew their names, and remembered which kids like Real Madrid and which ones like Starcraft. (I cheat, and write notes about the students on my class photo rosters, which I carry discretely to class.)

I recently received 2 from a 6th grade girl I taught for 3 years. She emailed me after she went to middle school a couple weeks ago.

1) You taught me English for 3 years, but you are my teacher for life.

2) You are the best teacher for me in my life.

Heartwarming to say the least. :)

Dunno- the "Teacher I love you" in the halls never gets old. Somehow it makes all the other frustrating stuff totally disappear.

Other nice ones:

Teacher, long hair good! And soft!
Teacher, S line! (Which is REALLY nice since I have a D line instead)

Student: *pointing at my chest* teacher!!!!
Me: What? Do I have lint or a piece of hair on my shirt? *frantically dusts off shirt*
Student:No, no teacher! *gestures that my chest is large*
Not sure if that's a compliment in Korea?

-"S-LINE!"- from a teacher and a student.
-"You look like a Korean...You're so pretty"  from my co-teacher
-"Teacher, I hate your husband because he is married to you."

-"You can speak English more clearly than my other native teacher."
-"We were reading a story in Korean class...the students said you are like the main character because you are happy and pure."
-"You are so cheerful all the time...what is your secret?"

ALSO: "You don't have any love handles, you eat so much food, and you don't exercise...What is your secret?"
