Is there anyway that this particular thread can be included in the permanent links at the beginning of the board? I'd wager it sees enough action (eg Grade 1&2,3,4,5,6, After School, Kindergarten, etc)

A powerpoint I made to learn/practice the "Z" sound.  Zero Zebras at the Zoo.  Being Jewish I also wanted to emphasize what a Jew was and that it is NOT a zoo.

Here are some worksheets I adapted for kindergarten. I taught the alphabet and covered each letter over 2 lessons.
First lesson introduce key words and letter sound, sing a song.
Second lesson review words with a game, complete a worksheet and sing a song.

This could work as a game as well

I'm not sure you refer the Letterland Phonic or not  :P This CDROM cover the letter sound, stories and mactching letter sound/games, also handwriting song ( teach how to write aphabets ). letterland series are my based to teach Phonics. It's cover from letter sound, workbook and blending ( such as,the word 'Cat' which is break down into three 'c-a-t'. Words can be divided into 2 basic groups: regular phonic words (cat) and irregular (such as 'there". Regular words can sound out and Irregular words have to be learned ( it's call sight word or Dolch word ). I posted my Dolch Words list too :)

Usborne Phonic Readers is effective ways to teach phonic reading too. Another good phonic books are Oxford Songbird. Great book for beginer reader.

Dont foget your Phonics song!

A fun and simple way to learn the phonics sounds.
There are a few Phonics songs available on the internet. Phonics song 2 / Phonics song 3 ... all good ^^
This is my favorite, simple fun and the kids love to sing along.

I modified an existing Doraemon Bomb Game which used CH and SH digraphs. This one includes some different CH and SH words, as well as some CK NK and NG digraphs. I don't remember who the OP was.

Also, this uses the vocabulary lists from www.barryfunenglish.com, for which you need an annual subscription (that is not required to play this bomb game though!) and here are the words I used

beach
catch
teach
cheese
chick
chimp
cash
fish
wash
shark
ship
shirt

quick
sick
bank
dunk
honk
ink
sink
tank
bang
fang
ring
sing

The Alphablocks series by BBC is AMAZING for the classroom. My kids adore them.
Teaches the basic alphabet sounds and has other episodes that focus on other sounds. I use this for my 3rd grade who are just learning their alphabet.

If you google "letter _____ song" there are raps for each letter.  Also, I use animoto.com to show pictures all starting with the same letter and ask students to name what picture they see.  After naming them, I ask student what do all the words have in common.  They will notice that all the words begin with the same letter.  Great for phonics =)
