R.I.P Firefox?

Is anyone else thoroughly sick of Firefox?

It seems like it asks you to manually update every second week and every update manages to break something. My extensions stopped working months ago. I used to have Gmail, Google Reader and Google Docs permanently pinned and faviconized to the tab bar but it broke and I never bothered to fix it.

It is slower than Chrome. It crashes and hangs more and more often.  It stopped working on my netbook about a year ago. You click on the icon and nothing happens.

The only reason I still use it is out of habit. I have to use chrome to download from here anyway, so I'm 50% of the way towards ditching it anyway. It was the go to for so many years, but I don't believe that to be the case anymore.

I tried to leave it for a while because it was so slow starting up sometimes.  I went with Opera, but then had an 'open source only' period and came back to FF, also it has 'adblocker'.

My advice would be just to keep it streamlined and use as few addons as possible.  It's got its cons, but so has everything.  I think it's a good thing to try and stay open source.

I'm fed up with the continual frivolous updates too, but until any other browser loses the "all look alike" mentality towards Asian scripts, Firefox is the only option. Well, other than I.E. which usually gets it right. My understanding is that Google cannot solve this problem in Chrome themselves as it is a fundamental flaw of webkit itself.

Ultimately, Firefox is the only browser that can legibly render pre-1995 Sino-Korean without having to exclude other languages. That's nuts.

I was a loyal Firefoxer for many years, but once I tried Chrome I never looked back.

I feel the exact same way. Chrome cannot be compared with Firefox at all. The custom skins make it look sleek and awesome and anything I loved in Firefox, Chrome has x2.

I hate random updates. I stopped updating software years ago when I realised there was usually no noticeable difference post update and 'if it isn't broke don't fix it'

Firefox hit a wall for me a few months ago.  Too many problems after another update.  Crashed a lot, etc.

Also went to Chrome.

Firefox is still most widely used though not for a good reason. Chrome is the best option.

This might be a petty thing, but I used to use chrome for a week and I couldn't stand the tab bar being where the title bar was, and couldn't change it. Apparently google has it as an aesthetic feature and will not give you an option to change it, at least when I was using it last year but firefox does. As I open multiple tabs at a time (10+, usually much more) this was unacceptable, and it also interfered with my autohide dock at the top of the screen.

At this point, Chrome has seen enough user-development to match and even exceed the kind of extensions that gave Firefox the initial advantage.

However, I have a habit of leaving my chrome browser open for a looong time and the flash can start to get buggy after that time. In that case, I use Firefox when I can't get a certain site to work.
It's like when you're so lazy, you actually inconvenience yourself (straining to reach for something instead of just getting up).

Stupid, I know, haha.

Dumped firefox on my laptop a while ago to Chrome. Love Chrome.

But i do use Firefox on my smartphone. The ability to save any website as a pdf file is good, and the tabbed browsing is still quite fast.

I switched to Chrome from Firefox about a year and a half ago, mainly due to the start up time. Firefox has improved a little bit but there is still a noticeable delay when compared to Chrome. This is preventing me to go back to Firefox :(

The reason I want to go back to Firefox? Chrome is ridiculously slow when handling large .gif images

I use Firefox on my MacBook. I think Firefox for Mac works fine. However, I rarely use firefox on my work computer or netbook which are slower and use windows.

Adblocker.

I switched to Chrome a while back and haven't looked back. I run it off my USB stick (fully cloud synced) via the Chrome Portable Apps.  Really useful for switching classrooms at school.

Firefox was the best but since I moved to Chrome my slow ass work computer can actually open more than 5 tabs and not die on me!

As much as I like Chrome, its tabs-on-top behavior and general lack of extensions ruin it for me. I'll stick with Firefox.
