Hi!

Sorry, I think this family feud game looks really fun! However, I am a bit confused.

So I divide the students into three groups. Then group one gets to pick a question at the top is the correct? When click the question a name of a room appears. But when I click the number an x shows up and not the answer. If you could please explain that would be terrific!

Thanks again for your help!

I had the same problem at first but i figured it out.  There is a small area where you have to click the numbers.  If you don't click on that exact spot it goes to the 'x' or the next slide.  Just fiddle aroudn with it before you use it in class so you know the exact spots.  the pointer finger should show up when your on the link.  I had to do a lot of playing around and random clicking on my own just to figure it out...once i got it the kids loved it.

It was a bit of a  pain though, because if you don't hit it just right it can delay the game while you click back.  hope this helps.

sorry about that.. my coteachers had the same problem too... they said you have to click on the bottom left corner of the number... for the number to show up I think it's because i made it on the 2007 word processor and saved it as an older version so more ppl can use it. i'll try to work out the kinks... and update it. but it's good to hear that your students enjoyed it~!

A few bits I found from last year..

For the bomb game: Behind each number is an object, the students have to say which room the object is from. Click the object to reveal the answer, then click again to see how many points they are given.

I built a cluedo game last year and also a board but I had a lot of trouble trying to explain to my after school class how to play the game.

How did you use this activity? Did you use a board?

I made 6 sets of cards divided the class into 6 teams. I kept 3 cards back from each pack, 1 weapon, 1 suspect and 1 room.  The students then each get three cards from the pack and then each person takes a turn to ask 2 other students in the group if they have ...for example Plum, rope, bathroom. The student that is asked need only show one of the cards even if they have all 3. The student then ticks off on the list what they have just seen. Then the next person has a turn, until one in the team has 15 ticks on their sheet then they can ask the teacher if they have the right combination.
Everything is not as it seems.

Here is an updated"Hidden Pictures" game. I took the PPT from earlier in the thread and added more photographs I found online. My kids get a kick out of real people and homes!

*On the first page, I review lesson 11 (adding -ing) by working through the word 'hiding' with them.

The only thing is, I just tried playing it myself and I dont understand what it means when it says 'search' or 'lets explore' instead of points. Also theres no option to return to the numbers screen with the mushroom either... any advice wud be great!

elizO5O6: On the slides that have "SEARCH". "ATTACK" or "LET'S EXPLORE", just click on the speaking bubbles, that will take you to other slides. For "SEARCH" the students choose either a red, blue, yellow or green star. For ATTACK, there will be a short little battle (just keep clicking until the points appear), and for LET'S EXPLORE, they can choose from one of four places (just click on the place, for example "Race Track", that will take you to another little scenario, again, just keep clicking. After each of these, the mushroom will appear to take you back to the choice screen.

Hello all. Maybe too late now with a lot of people apparently leaving this lesson (are my school really far behind??), but here is a Jeopardy game I drew up.

I added an extra category so there are 6 because we have 6 teams in our classes.

Some things to note - I added in 'Special Bonuses' and Danger Spots, because our kids really like the randomness of Bomb Games and this was to add that in. You could just take these out by deleting them. If you keep them in, you will have to amend them slightly as they are geared towards our school. Also, each category requires a click to go from question to answer, and then a click only in the presenter link in the bottom left corner from answer page to the start again.

Finally, the last category doesn't have an answer section because it doesn't really need one.

Here is a ppt about the rooms in the white house I made. I also has The White House dog, Bo, somewhere in each room so you can do an additional question and ask students, "Where's Bo?" And just and FYI there is no BO in the laundry room. Enjoy:)

A really interesting opening for this class is to find your house on Google map! Show it to your class and discuss what they are looking at, e.g What do you see?
My students LOVED it and were so excited to see teachers home, simple but gets them motivated!!

Re: Grade 5 Lesson 12 - This is a bedroom MARIO GAME
« Reply #36 on: October 19, 2010, 03:27:27 pm »
A Mario game adapted from Sally's wonderful template. I added numbers to help select the questions and changed the scoring, eliminating the negative scores and replacing them with "switch points with another team", "steal 4 points" etc., I also wrote out Princess Peach's "ransom" note. I've played this game with 6th, 5th and 4th graders and they really enjoyed it. Thanks again to SALLY for her great work creating a great alternative to the traditional bomb game!
Kerry
Why do they get points when the negative sound goes off? IE: the dying sound

lizteacher10: It's probably because I changed the negative scoring to positives and to other options like "change points with other team", etc., If you want to change the sounds, just go to the slide that bothers you, click on "custom animations", click on the picture on which the sound appears, right click on image (on the column on the right), click on "effect options", then choose the sound that you like.

Here's a bingo game that I made.  There are 10 different sentences ("I am (sleeping) in the (bedroom)"), and 5 different rooms.  Each student has a room listed on the front of their board, and on the back they have the activity they are doing in that room.  The dialogue goes like this:
Where are you?
I am in the _______.
What are you doing in the ______?
I am ______ in the _______.
Then the student asking the questions is able to write the other students name over that activity on their bingo sheet.

This game takes a lot of setting up, but the students loved it.  They also did a whole lot of speaking.  Also, you have to print the word document so that page 2 is on the back of page 1, etc.

Izus, that's an awesome idea for a bingo game!  I think I'll be using that next class.  How long did it take to set up and play this game?
