Windows are drafty. Where to get weather stripping?

(1/2) > >>

SpaceRook:
Hi all,

The windows in my apartment can be a little drafty.  Do they sell weather stripping in Korea?   Is there a Korean name for it? Where can I get it?  I looked in HomePlus and EMart, but did not see it.  It's possible I was not looking in the right place.

Thanks.

as always, gmarket

Every supermarket or 'chun-un' store I've ever been in carries it.

Just an option:

I used big sheets of clear double layered vinyl (bee-nil in Konglish) with double sided tape and masking-tape on the frame to cover up my large balcony doors. The 2 square meters of double layered vinyl and two rolls of double sided tape cost me about 10,000won. It was a very cost effective way to solve the problem. As long as you create a solid seal using first the double sided tape, and then the masking tape on the outside (the frame), you can kill your draft.

Worked for me! Saw my heating bills drop quite a bit.

Would the same solution work for a window that leaks rainwater?  It's the kind of window that is hinged at the top and latches at the bottom (so it swings out).  So far it hasn't been a huge problem with only a few rains/snows since I moved in last month, but it's not rainy season yet, and the wallpaper in my apartment shows evidence of some pretty bad water damage from when the past tenant lived here.

I guess I could ask the building manager, but when I mentioned the problem to my co-teacher, he expressed his great annoyance and even anger (not at me though) since the manager had apparently claimed he would fix the problem before I moved in.  I guess that little aspect of maintenance didn't happen.  Maybe I'll try looking for some of the supplies you guys mentioned.
