Grade 4 Lesson 2 Who is he?

Hey this is for the book that has the cartoon bodies and peoples heads.

This is what I did for period 2. Before the class I played genki english pronoun song found here http://genkienglish.net/pronouns.htm. I then I review with them I am, He is, She is ect. And go around the class pointing  to different students and asking the class who they are? The kids shout out either he is or she is so and so.

Then I do the look and listen and story b (very boring but it drives the point home. Afterwards I play a hidden pictures game attached below (be careful the second to last picture is of me) I made of famous people and cartoons. I have 1 student stand from each table or group and then slowly take away the boxes. No one can speak accept the person standing, and the first hand up is the first to answer. I make the students read the question (Who is he? Who is she?) before each round and the student has to answer by saying. He is _______. She is __________. If they simply call out the name I don't give them the point and will call on another person until they say the complete sentence. The students go insane for this game. Hope it's useful

I added this in the old book sections for Lesson 7 (same as Lesson 2 for this book).

It is a Simpsons Family Tree power point. It will teach about the different family members. It should have sound as well (not sure about the embedding).

There is also a little game at the end to see if they remember. Pictures will disappear and the students will have to say which one disappeared.

Could the mods link this to the 4th grade book with the first lesson as Good morning Min? Is there a way to do this on our own?

First without saying anything, i drew  4 monsters on the blackboard... which is hard to figure out if it is she or he

Then, i asked for a volunteer to introduce this monster family.

The volunteer should intorduce her or himself with a monster name, and I acted like a reporter to make them in a mood (and push) to introduce their family monsters!

Because the key vocab was 'handsome, pretty, kind' as well, i asked them who is the most hansome, prettiest monster.

students felt kinda awkward to pick one,... because they are ugly in their eyes!

sometimes i would ask them to draw a pretty/handsome monster on the blackboard as well.

Class went crazy, they wanted to do it so much.

I played a game called dictation relay with the kids and they really loved and it gets them up and moving.

Basically think of 12 phrase e.g 'who is he?, "He is my father." and number then and stick them up all over the class room.

Give each pair this worksheet to fill in the answer. One student must write them down at the desk and the other student must run around the classroom looking for the hidden phrases. It's great fun and you can even tell them to swap so the other student gets a turn to run around.

I have the same topic, but within a different book. I used pictionary and it worked wonderfully. I,m thinking most understand pictionary.
Using sentences like, he is Park Ji Sung, they are Big Bang etc.
Give it a try.

I used Simpsons characters to review family members. It also has a page the you can print out and use as a worksheet. If you scroll through the ppt you will see it. It has characters from the Family Guy. There is also a memory game at the end.

If you are looking for something to take up a few minutes of class here is an easy word search for students using the key vocab.  My students enjoyed working on teams and racing each other to see who could complete this worksheet the fastest.
