Busan Accent Guide?
« on: March 29, 2011, 11:13:50 am »
Hey all,

I am looking for a website that has several phrases in Busan accent. I want to learn some to make my gf more and more angry at me. Yeah, she is from Busan, but she starts working in Seoul this week, and she always encourages me to learn "standard Korean" and always frowns upon me learning her local accent, but I am currently living in Busan, and pronunciation is so much easier here, as I have studied Japanese. I also studied "standard Korean" at my uni, but I like the Busan accent more because it is easier for me, but I want to learn phrases in the Busan dialect. Any suggestions? I know a couple, but I'd like to know 10 or 20 of them, if possible.

THANKS to anybody who replies!!!

The limited Gyeongnam-ese that I know:

파무나!  (Have you eaten?  Eat more..)
뭐 한노 instead of 뭐 해요?
어디 간노? instead of 어디 가요?
와 instead of 왜?
고메 (?) instead of 고구마

Talktomeinkorean.com has a gyeongnam dialect guide in the store I think.  I'm considering purchasing it.

If you're any good with Korean, here's a big list from Naver's Q&A section: http://tinyurl.com/6fugdqz  In the table, 표준말 is standard Korean and 사투리 is the dialect.

If Busan dialect is anything like Gyeongbuk dialect, it's way easier to pronounce than standard Korean. I pick it up a lot easier.

That is totally awesome! And yeah, it is exactly the same dialect! 경상도 사투리 is the dialect they use in Busan, Daegu, Pohang, Gyeongju, and throught the southeast. THANKS SO MUCH! Printing now!

It looks like some stuff's duplicated, so I'd sift through it a bit before printing it. :)

There's a few differences, but most of it definitely looks the same. My kids mostly speak 경북사투리, so that's mostly what I use to talk to them.

its a lot easier to pick this up by ear, at least for me.

seeing it written down, it doesnt look real

maybe i'm just not listening... but i've never heard most of that stuff on that naver link, i kind of feel like its a bit made up

i've seen books of texan slang full of stuff that nobody ever says, so i'm weary

it's great that you're trying to pick up the gyeongnam accent. it's def. more fun than the formal, 'right' korean of seoul.

you can also say:
니는 instead of 너는

have fun!
