Two things. One: the lesson in the book teaches past tense, so make sure you alter it for that. Two: I couldn't get the sound to work.

Here is a 20 second/jeopardy style game for past tense vacation sentences.

It's pretty simple, the categories are verbs: go/play/watch/ride/eat and the kids will have to make a sentence with the verb in the past tense such as "On my vacation, I went to Canada." They can get 10 bonus points for answering "how was it?"

Here's a little intro I used, and then I did the ppt game that was posted.

There were a few mistakes on the ppt, so I edited and will re-post it.

Glad you enjoyed the game though :)

I found this fun video ppt and it fits in just perfectly.

It's just a fun thing to do at the end of the lesson.

;) This Powerpoint helps students review location words and activities that they may have done over the summer break. The lesson assumes they already know how to form simple past tense verbs like "swam."

Attached is the powerpoint for the "lesson" part of the unit. I am going the pass the paper game as a warmup (What did you do this summer?), then my ppt as the lesson, then the 20 second game in this thread as a review.

I couldn't seem to get the "pass the paper" PPT to open. Is anyone else having the same trouble?

Citisenoftheworld, your PPT is AWESOME! I used it for a couple days and the kids LOVE it. Yesterday however a couple of the Failblog video links stopped working. Not sure what's up with that but I had to replace a couple slides. Thought I'd upload for anyone else that may need it.

Seriously, this is a great way to end class.

This is in response to annekat's slides.  I modified it, making only minor changes, to reflect Chuseok.  I'm hoping to have students play it after the break.  Thanks Annekat for the slides and inspiration, they are awesome.  It's attached should anyone be interested.

I'm using this topic for an open class coming up.  The lesson sticks to the text book more rigidly than I'd like, but I thought it might help some people who have these restrictions.

My ppt is kinda awful so I'm not gonna put it up, but this game has been a lot of fun so I thought I'd share it.
If you've ever heard of fruitbasket upset, it's the same game, but applied to the lessons here.

Everyone sits in a circle with their chairs except 1 person has no chair and stands in the middle. The person in the middle chooses someone at random and asks them a question. For example: Lesson 1.6 Did you have a nice vacation?
The person in the middle asks "did you have a nice vacation" and the person they asked says "Yes it was...." or "no it was....." and answers with a set choice of adjectives. Each kid is assigned to one of the adjectives. I use Wonderful, OK, Boring, Awful. So if the person answers, "No. It was awful" then everyone assigned to the word "awful" stands up and has to switch chairs and the person in the middle tries to sit down. There is always someone left in the middle so then that person goes and asks someone else. And so on and so on. I also add in a phrase that means that everyone has to get up and move, like, "No. I didn't go anywhere." If they say that then everyone gets up and frantically tries to find a seat.

It's quite amusing to watch and I feel like everyone ends up getting a chance to use the key expression. I play for like 20-30 minutes. It's best with a big classroom and class size. Have fun!

My school wants me to focus on the speaking part. This is the lesson that I made and a bomb game to go with it
