Hey, all! I found this "Cranes for Kids" program organized by OshKosh B'gosh and thought I'd share it with you. For every origami crane that is made and submitted, OshKosh will donate one piece of clothing to kids in Japan. More information and downloadable instructions are available on the OshKosh website:
http://www.oshkoshbgosh.com/Cranes-For-Kids/cranes-for-kids,default,pg.html?id=oshkosh. Deadline is April 25th.
This would make for a good activity to include in any lessons about Japan, animals, or ordinal numbers, and it gives students an opportunity to feel like they're making a difference. Also, if anyone is using the Haas' Middle School English grade 1 textbook, this project might be especially well-suited for you, since Lesson 3 includes ordinal numbers.
