This is a simple image ppt. to use in review of the prepositions IN, ON, UNDER.  It's bunny themed and can be tied in with the Easter Bunny if you want...

Lesson 3 Listening activity - My students did really well with this one...I didn't show them the first slide. I just read the sentences slowly and gave them time to draw it. Then we went over it together...uses "in on under above between next to"

Hi,
I used another teacher's Lucky Wheel ppt template and adapted it for Grade 5 It's under the Table with word and picture prompts. Before playing we played a drawing dictation game (The panda is on the apple) which the students enjoyed because the sentences were silly and random. We also used the MES English flashcard ppt at
http://www.mes-english.com/flashcards/prepositions.php
and did some TPR after watching the You Tube video Location Prepositions of a father and son

Two bombs games dealing with prepositions and the location of the animals.

1 is with a jumping monkey. The other is with multiple slightly animated animals.

So i played the BAMMM game in class today and my students loved it! There are so many "BAMMMs" that the potential winning team is constantly changing! It was great thanks for posting it!

I did a sort of "Where's Wally" (Waldo if you're American like myself) bomb game. Google "Where's Wally" if you're unfamiliar with the books.
I'll just say now that this takes a bit of preperation so if you're looking for a last minute idea this isn't going to help ya.

First, I had some color copies made from the "Where's Wally" book (or rather, someone I know did..... FedEx wont do it but if you go to a garden variety office supply store they'll turn the other cheek) and had them laminated. I also prepared a Power Point which I'll share below. The books are pretty common and should be at most ESL book stores. Found mine at Kim and Johnson.

I divided the class into six teams and each team recieved a Where's Wally Sheet. On the power point , I reveal which character they are looking for. The first team to find the character and  write down a prepositional phrase (i.e. : He's behind the elephant) describing where the character is recieves points as described in the Power Point.

http://www.riverdeep.net/language_arts/edmark_lang_arts/EdmoHoudini/EdmoHoudini.swf

Here's a preposition flash animation. It's seems kind of simple but for some reason they liked it.
Just pretend you are the boy and they are the dog. Tell them where to go and they have to repeat after the dog.
Then flip it around and you are taking orders from the dog. Just make a funny voice when you repeat and it it'll make it better.

Also, we played a good game, "10 second mission"

So just order all the students around. Anytime someone makes a mistake just say goodbye and they sit at the back of the class and watch the other students. Say things like...your English book is on your desk. Your pencil is in your book. Everything is in your desk. Your pencil case is under the book etc. Once you do that enough, and there are a few kids left... say you are under your desk, you are on your desk... then your book is on your head. stand up, sit down... that will eliminate enough of them so you can give the remainder a sticker (or whatever your reward system is).

Oh yes, and after you give your instruction, count down from ten.

I just made a quick powerpoint activity for my afterschool class next week.
Basically the students have to choose a number and say where the object is (It's behind the door, It's next to the tiger etc...)

Just cick on the main titles on each slide first (where is the dog/ apple/ rabbit) and click on the walking question marks the students choose. (Make sure you click when the hand pointer appears or it will skip to the next slide :D)

I'm going to practice the sentences after each one. Just click on the sentences text box that appear at the top and they'll disappear.

I'm not that great with powerpoint so it's only a simple game lol

Period 2 or 3 - Matching Game
Divide class into 6 teams.  Two students of each team will stand up and choose a number.  They need to find a pair of cards that match.  Each time they choose a number they must make a sentence using the key expression: It's ______ the _____.  You can make the whole team repeat afterwards etc.

A powerpoint for prepositions. I had the students work in pairs. One person is looking at the screen and one person is not. The one looking will describe where the object is to the other and they will draw quickly on their paper. Gets them to talk, and be able to understand.

In the Wee book of songs for kindergartens there is the 'in, on, under' song complete with hand gestures. I've found this to be useful for grade 5's. I'll try to explain.

You put your finger 'in' your other hand for in, your palm 'on' the bunched fist for 'on', then under for the bunched fist. The song continues with next to, behind then in front of. The tune is apparently a Korean Christmas carol, for which I cannot describe.

The whole song goes like this.

'In, on, under
'In, on, under
'In, on, under
'In, on, under
next to , behind, in front of me

Simple but effective.

Great stuff. I wish I could post some material but I teach from the book, literally no movement from at all.
