Does anyone have any experience going to a dentist in Seoul? Can anyone recommend a good dentist who does good work? I have heard that dentist work here is inexpensive.

I have used Yonsei Universities Dental clinic in Gimpo.  The man speaks excellent English and is very modern.  I would imagine there are many of these clinics around and are pretty standardized.

I've been going to Boston Dental for 2 years now. They are amazing! Everyone there speaks English and the experience has always been great. They aren't fully covered by your insurance though, so it costs about the same as back home, about 80,000 for a cleaning.

have any of you had a filling done here? it's very expensive back stateside so i've heard medical work here is inexpensive. Would you have any kind of idea of the price for a filling, the white kind that matches your teeth?

I had a filling done and it was 100,000 for the first one and 80,000 for the second. It was the enamel and they did a wonderful job. That was at Boston Clinic. And I may have been wrong earlier, I think it's 60,000 for a cleaning.

Dr. Kim's dental clinic in Daechu-Dong (Seoulleung Station exit 1).  Dentist is very friendly, speaks good English, and is part of the American Dental Association because he travels abroad a lot to visit his children.  Quality work and environment.  www.dentistkim.co.kr or just send him email listed on site

Has anyone gone to a dentist here that has dental simulation technology? I'm looking into implants and would like to see what changes will look like before forking out the dough...

Tufts Dental is great.
http://tuftsdental.net/english/index.asp
I've been going to Tufts since last year for my Invisalign work.
Dr. Sohn is very personable and professional. She explains everything. Everything is in English, people are friendly. Prices might be a little high but i don't know if there is any better dental clinic in Seoul.

I second Tufts Dental ^^^.  Dr. Sohn, as well as the rest of the staff are very courteous and extremely English friendly.

Re: Know a good dentist? Yes, fantastic one in Gwangju.

My Holy Grail search for a good dentist ended when I found the Boston Dental Clinic in Gwangju (062-263-7528). Dr. Kim Hyun Jin is the consummate professional, and she takes a great deal of pride in her work. I needed a lot of work (two wisdom teeth extracted, two crowns, two inlays), and she did everything. Her English is really good, and all of the staff can speak English. She explained everything and asked me for my preferences when options presented themselves. Open also on Saturdays, her clinic is a textbook example of good management: everything runs with clockwork precision; all staff are educated, polite, and empowered; and NASA clean-room conditions always prevail. Few people enjoy going to the dentist, but the quality work she performs at a fraction of the going rate in Canada convinced me that my two hours on the bus every Saturday was worth the effort. ;D

Are you British?

I know a great dentist who speaks great English.  He  has an office in Bupyoung, Incheon.  If you wait until April, he'll have a new clinic in Song-Do, Incheon.

The thing about this guy is that he definitely numbs you and gives proper pain meds after major dental work.  He's more like an American dentist than a Korean dentist.  He's not rough, and he doesn't mind answering your questions.  In fact, he really loves to chit chat.

PM me for his specific information and I'll e-mail him for the address and clinic phone number and get back to you.  I can't find his biz card.

Good luck with the toofers

I really need to see a dentist while I'm here in South Korea.  I was wondering if anyone else here has gone, what their experience was like, and if they could recommend a good (hopefully English speaking) dentist?  I'm really looking for one that speaks at least some English as I expect I need a lot of work done.  I live really close to Daegu, so one in Daegu would be fantastic, but anywhere in the Seoul or Busan area would be great to.

I'm looking for a Dentist in Seoul...  I don't need much done, a cleaning, and I'm pretty sure I have a cavity. Has anyone had work done here? What is the price range for a standard cleaning/checkup??

Thanks

(SEOUL) WY Dentistry near Gangnam is professional and reminds me of the care I got in the states.
The main guy had a clinic in NJ for many years and speaks fluent english with no accent.

http://www.wydent.com/

Directions:
From exit 7 of Yeoksam walking straight for 10 minutes, you'll see a sign that says SHOGUN and the clinic is in the same building.

There is another Boston Dental Clinic in Duchondong, gangdong-gu, Seoul (SE, purple line 5), in between exits 3 and 4 on the 3rd floor. He earned his degree from Boston and made sure to clearly explain the issues with my teeth and what work he would do on them. He was pretty quick! Actually and orthodontist, but had to also do general practice when he came back to Korea.

I had cavities sealed recently. For back teeth, it's 100,000 KRW. For the smaller teeth, it's 80,000 KRW. Per cavity. Scaling was about 50,000 KRW, I think.

I've been to this dentist before and was completely satisfied. He clearly explains everything that he is going to do in perfect English before he proceeds. The price was reasonable and the service was top notch.

Do you have a number for them? I want to go in for a cleaning before leaving Korea

If you head towards Busan, I would recommend the dentist I saw last week. He studied some time at UCLA and he is a huge fan of the school. His office is easy to find and I wrote a review on the pusanweb website. There is also a negative review, but I have met with him twice and he has been extremely helpful and did everything I needed done. He fixed two caveties and he had to use a local, but he was very gentle and it didn't hurt much at all. I recommend him. His prices are listed on the website which you can find a link to on my review:
