For my high school students, they like a challenge so I've done the "Trick Following Directions" worksheet where they have to carefully read all of the answers before they begin. Its a very simple exercise. Most of them fail because they go ahead and do question by question, and it's fun to witness.

My students really like this game.  They enjoy it a lot when I use soccer players or different athletes as the things they have to guess.

Thank you for this. Classes that don't use powerpoint are usually the best. I will try it out on Monday, and I am sure that it will work.

I agree! I mean..... it took me until the second to last week of my 2 years teaching in Korea to come to this decision.... but I agree. I just decided last week that I don't want to use powerpoint unless I absolutely need to. I want the students engaged and I want their focus on me.

Has anyone used Akinator? It's a 21 Question game for any character: http://en.akinator.com/

I have to say, it's gotten pretty much anything I throw at it, I'm thinking about using it in my class next week!

How long did you keep this game going for - can it fill up an entire class period?

I made a super quick power point for 20 q's just to give my students somewhere to start. It helped things move along than they thought of their own questions.

Personally I couldn't take up a whole 50 minute lesson with this, but definitely a good half hour. :)
