I felt awkward just reading that OP. It would be hard to beat that one.

My most awkward moment so far was having the doorman check that I was using the right garbage bag. After I left, I had to return to the room because I forgot to check my mail.. I caught him going through my garbage. His face turned so red and I just laughed. I didn't know what to say. After I went back to my room I just figured he was checking to make sure i didn't throw in anything that could've been recycled. Still weird.  :-X

Come by to say hello, and raises his hand to give me a high five, keep in mind were both butt naked... whats worse is, he then goes to grab his dad to introduce him to me, His dad is about 6'5 im about 5'9... shaking hands but naked..... awkward...

Why do you guys find the public bath stuff awkward? I guarantee the boss and the students/their parents didn't find it awkward at all.

I actually ran into a student at the sauna.  To make it even more awkward, I was stepping into the bath and I hear "hello, teacher!" with my junk about two feet from his face.  Even worse, now he always asks me when I'll go to the sauna again.

After a few months in Korea I thought I would try to write out my lunch order in Hangul.  I had been studying quite hard and thought I was making good progress; however, I ended up writing "vagina on rice" (actually, my wife translated it as "p***y on rice") as my lunch choice and showed it to my middle aged, mother of two, colleague.  I don't think our relationship was ever the same after that.

ha! I hate getting naked with strangers, so I haven't done a public bath yet (or perhaps at all), so I don't really have these kinds of stories. Mine is less awkward, but I had just ordered an animal suit on gmarket (the full body ones, you know) and I tried it on right as the doorbell rang. It was another package and I didn't have time to take it off, so I just answered the door with that on and felt completely ridiculous signing off on a package while wearing a full body costume. ><

At this year's talent show 4 of my 1st year high school girls decided to do the whole K-pop song and dance routine.  Song Selection?  "Bad Girl, Good Girl" by Miss A.

As the guest of honor or some such, I was sitting in the front row.  At some point during their dance routine (it's in the video too) the four girls got together and did a little body pop, taking off their jackets in the process.  The leader of the group then cat walked out to the front of the stage, tossed the jacket at my face (where it wrapped around my head), and winked at me with a leer.

I.  Was.  Mortified.  I was absolutely convinced that I was going to be carted off as some sort of pedophile and deported from Korea the next day.  And I was the guest of honor, so I had to sit there panicking with a girl's jacket in my hands for the next hour.  As the show ended, I saw my co-teacher walking up, and braced for the worst.

"evankub!  That was so cute!  Our students are very talented!"

He thought the dance was cute, in no way sexual, and hilarious.  Go figure.  I think I lost a year off my life during that talent show.

This is why I don't go to saunas in the city I live in ... I know there's a likelihood of that happening.  I don't mind doing it in other cities, though.

Walked into the wrong classroom and wrote objectives on the board. When I turned around to say good morning, I was greeted with confused stares.

I was walking home at night and I tripped over a guy peeing on my building.  I didn't know if I should apologize or be grossed out, so I just awkwardly rushed into the building and checked my shoes for pee.

It was August. It was very hot and the rest of the teachers were wearing shorts in the classroom. The principal and vp wore wearing suits however they were using their AC. the principal told the teachers not to turn theirs own. anyhow I decided to wear khaki shorts they just went passeed the knee. My co teacher freaked out when she saw me. :o. I had to promise never to wear short pants to school again. :-[. I got them to agree to least use the fan in the summer.

I live in a small town and one day I had eaten lunch at a local pizza place. Afterward, I was walking around town enjoying the scenery. At some point, my body decided I needed to have a 'movement' and kicked it into overdrive. I was going from place to place where I knew the store owners and they spoke English. NO ONE was open....at this point I am getting really desperate (I have to go so bad I'm sweating). Finally, out of desperation I go into some random restaurant and ask to use the bathroom (in English, I hadn't learned the word in Korean yet). The lady just stared at me like I'm from Mars. They I tried 'toilet'??? Still just a blank stare. So I covered my privates with both hands, bent over and in the most dramatic fashion, screamed 'Bathroom!". She immediately understood and showed me the way. Needless to say, never went in there to eat

All my awkward moments are transportation related. 1) took the bus to nowhere..seriously.  We stopped and driver got out, went into a house. Came out a few minutes later with another dude.  They were switching drivers. New driver would drop off old driver while resuming the route.  SOMEHOW we 3 managed to communicate enough that they dropped me off where I needed to be, which was NOT on their route, BTW.
2) End of the subway line, I didn't know.  Janitor chick came, grabbed me by my jacket and dragged me  out the door.  It was a bit of a struggle since I was trying to take my bag with me and she seemed to feel that wasn't important.  I tripped over the bag nearly knocking her over.  I did not offer an apology.
3) On the bus a Korean 'pastor' sat beside me. It looked like he had the white collar. He shows me a HUGE bible and says he’s studying to be a pastor.  That's what I thought, anyway, until, mixed in with other words, I heard 'sex', 'beautiful', 'drink go now', 'sex'. Guess he wanted to make sure I heard the 'sex' bit of it. He followed me off the bus, bought me a drink at the convenient store and THEN he got creepy. Seemed like weird behavior for a pastor, but what do I know?

This happened last night.

I was on a crowded subway going home and was standing in the section where the elderly and the pregant sit. I was just playing around with my phone, not holding on to anything but super confident in my balancing skills, when all of a sudden the subway shifts and clearly unprepared, I reach for one of those hand rings just above my head.

But I miss.

So far off balance, I not only hit the guy standing next to me as I slam into the subway car wall, but I also end up almost breaking a poor old haraboji. What's worse is that it was the poor old haraboji who had to pick me up.

I think he thought I was drunk or something because he told me to sit down. I was perfectly sober, just super uncoordinated!!   ::)

And then I had to stand there pretending it never happened for about 15 more minutes until I got to my stop.

Is he Catholic? :p

My suggestion. Find a new church.
If you teach a class that has all special needs kids with only the physical ability to move their hands up and down, then you'll be fired because they all gave you checks instead of circles.
