Halloween - Middle School
« on: October 26, 2009, 08:04:46 am »
I used this successfully with my 3rd grade middle schoolers, but I had to spend some time each slide really animating what the slide was about.  It was much fun!  There's a quiz at the end for a little game.  I just have the kids use these little white boards where they have to write the answers.  Enjoy..

Some of the reactions to pics by elementary and middle school are quite hilarious...especially the k-witch that magnifies out...the kids literally jump.

As always, feel free to muck around out with it, tweak it, improve it and REPOST it for everyone to use!

Nice work - some things are a little advanced for my students, so I'll have to modify it. I like the "couples clothing" reference.

I'm using a modified version of Sonya's powerpoint this week.  I've changed the order around and removed a lot of the animations.  I've also put in a few links to videos, though it would be smoother if they were embedded.  I just don't trust having internet in my rooms, so I take the videos preloaded.

After I finish the powerpoint I have students draw or write about their own Halloween Costume and draw a Jack O' Lantern.  Then I have a few share and the class pick the best one.  Finally I have the kids answer the quiz and hand out candy to everyone, giving the winner of the contest an extra piece.  I play the last video while I'm handing out candy.

One last note, I'm wearing my costume to classes this week, so far the kids are loving it.
