Just a couple things I used for this lesson. A few are edits of previously posted materials.

Quiz of opposites and comparatives, used during 4th period in the book.

Comparatives Riddles is a team game used with whiteboards. Students discussed the answers, wrote them down, and if correct were awarded points.

Word Scramble used during 5th period.

Riddles, Part Two was posted before under a previous name (can't recall the original, I apologize) and was made it easier since my students are mostly low-level.

Hope these are of use to someone.

Not sure if this was the best idea, but I made my students compete in an arm wrestling tournament. The boys were going crazy over it and the girls got into it as well. After each loss, the loser had had to make a sentence using "(name) is stronger than me." At the end, the entire class had to say, "(name) is the strongest in the class". They loved it.

This is somebody else's Star Craft bomb game I converted to a comparative game. Bigger than is not in the target language but I really really wanted to use the monster ;)

I used the target language in the chant ( pg 119, Grade 6 white book with a little airplane  puffing out A B C)  to elicit  taller than, stronger than, faster than and older than.

Thanks to all the other posters whose stuff I've been using, hope someone finds this useful!

Here's a bomb game.  They usually go over well for open classes.

Also, I've attached the PPT I used for 2nd period.

This looks like a really fun game.... but how do you play it? I don't have a clue!

Here's a simple worksheet for the grammar side of comparatives. fairly basic but might save you some time as I couldn't find a suitable one.
Don't let them drive you crazy, espcially if it's within walking distance!

I made a fun vocab game.  I wasn't sure that they could all spell so this was a good test.  I broke them up into 3 teams.  They were already sitting in three rows.  I gave chalk to the first person in each row.  I would yell out one of the words; faster, stronger, etc.  The first person in the row has to run up and write down the first letter.  They put the chalk down and run back to their seat.  When they sit down the next person can go and write down the next letter.  Then its the next person with the next letter.  When they finish the word the last person has to be sitting before they can yell finished.  They love this game and get super competitive.

Oh and make sure they leave the chalk at the board and not hand it off to the next person.  It makes it easier for you to watch for people leaving their seats early.  Made that mistake when I first started doing this game.

It doesn't work so well if your desk is right in front of the board.  The group in the middle was upset because they were the only group that had to run all the way around the desks.  So I made it so the other 2 groups had to run to opposite sides of the board.  That can turn into a problem though, because the bigger kids will just plow through the smaller ones and it just turns into a fight.  Hope this helps!  ;D

Today my lesson ended early, so I came up with a great time filler that is still relevent to the lesson.  I had students in groups organize themselves from tallest to shortest, youngest to oldest, and strongest to weakest.  The group who did it the fastest and most accurately, got candy!  For strongest to weakest I made them to a thumb war, as I didn't want fighting in the classroom.

Here is a Mystery Box game.

A group makes a sentence and they can choose to keep or give the box to another team, and they get the points.
My 6th grade students are usually pretty quiet but this really gets them talking!

Using this lesson that is based on comparatives. I  created a short multiple choice test for students.
Hope it helps when closing out this lesson with the students.

For this class I made a human bingo, with different things like "I am stronger than..." and they had to arm wrestle to win the spot. "I am nicer than..." and they had to give me a compliment in English and I would choose the best one. Then simpler ones like "I am older than..." I am shorter than..." They really liked it and it took the whole block!

Here is a power point for period 6 that my co-teachers wanted me to make. It's straight from the book, with the dialogue/answers to check.

Here is a survey for period 6. It's basically the same as the one in the book. You can choose your own pictures/questions and make it your own. Currently on the survey are ~ Stronger, longer hair, bigger hands, and taller.

This is a Golden Bell for Listening and Writing. Students use white boards to respond to the listening portion. It is broken down into X or O, Multiple Choice and Listening Carefully (an item is described, they write the answer). Students begin on top of their desks. When they get an incorrect response, they sit in their chair. At the bottom of the slide is the listening portion that you read to the students for each question.

Here is the ppt I made for Grade 6 Lesson 10 "I'm Stronger Than You"

It is a trivia game where students compare famous places, animals, and people using the language, "A is bigger/smaller/faster/taller...than B."  I ask the students to say the answer and its opposite.  So, "A is taller than B.  B is shorter than A."

Thanks for this!  The students really liked it and responded well.  Usually they just zone out but not this time.

For the writing portion of this lesson, my Co and I did this. :) THEY LOVED IT.

Title: Mini Olympics
How it's Played: in Pairs
The Rules/Instructions:
There are several rounds with different activities (for example, the first one's arm wrestling, testing strength) and before each round, my Co and I would do a mini demonstration between us and say, if I lost at the round, I would say, "I'm weaker than Teacher," and my Co would say the same, but with "stronger". Then, each student does it with their partner and they would write which sentence pertained to them in their English notebooks. In order to prevent kids from cheating, at the end, everyone would come up and get their sentences checked off individually before leaving.
Notes: There are 7 rounds in the PPT and with the first class, I got a good idea of how fast they went through it so I moved the cool/hard slides to the beginning. The example sentences are on each slide to help the kids write it as well as a picture for visual aid (title -> picture -> sentence).

Hope you guys have fun with this as well! :)
