Here's a pirate game focusing on emotions. I've used easily recognizable cartoon characters

Two Games:

Find your mom!:
Students play a game to find partners, using printed picture cards.
1.   Class divides into two groups, Group A and Group B.
2.   Group A will be the son or daughter, and group B will be the mom.
3.   Group A will have a song or daughter card, and Group B will have a mom card. Don’t show your cards to anyone else.
4.   When the music is on, students walk around. When the music stops, Group A goes to Group B and finds a mom. Group A shows the card and says, “Happy Mother’s Day! This is for you.”
5.   Group B checks the card and says, “Oh, it’s a ____________. Thank you!
6.   Students must find their matching animal card, Mother and baby animals.

Random Gifts:
T has a bag of random “gifts” for the students. These can be funny gifts, basically anything you find around the classroom. Students play in partners.
Two partners come to the front of the class. T puts a gift into a box. The students dialogue about the gift. Some of the gifts are actually candy. The students can keep the candy.

S1: This is for you.
S2: What’s this?
S1: Open it.
S2: Oh, it’s a ___________. Thank you.

I borrowed the matching game from above and tweeked it a bit.
Instead of rocket ship, wii and bat... I used scarf, pen and book.
Thanks for the PPT!

Hey all.

For this lesson (Part two at least) I'm playing a simple whispering game with my kids. I often use it and it gets them really amped up. Paste pictures form the target language (a scarf, a angry face, etc) at different points around the class. Arrange the class in to equally sized rows. The front two students step up to you and you whisper a target phrase to them, e.g. "It's a scarf". They the have to whisper it to the next person in the row, and so on until the last person has to run to the correct picture. First student to get to the correct picture scores a point for their team. The child who was first moves to the back of the row. Continue in this fashion ad nauseum.
Easy!

My kids are a little late in starting this I think, but this is just a short power point on gift giving and thanks. It's extremely simple because I have low-level students but hopefully someone will find it useful! You can let them guess what they think the gift is before it's revealed and then get a "You're welcome"/"My pleasure" at the end of each giftgiving!
I'll also be starting the first lesson with this cute video by Kristin Lepore for Yo Gabba on presents just to get their interest! So, video added too!

Because my class on 'Happy Mother's Day' coincided with Children's day, I decided to create a ppt show for them and a BAAM game. Mother's day does not exist in Korea, so I felt it more appropriate to link this class with a holiday they do celebrate.

I used the ppt to introduce the topic and introduce the vocab, some of which was brand new to them and then we played the BAAM game. Suprisingly they picked up the new vocab and did quite well in the game. The kids got very excited with the game and were making bomb noises when it was another teams go.

I used this only to supplement my class not to teach the core objectives of the chapter, which I felt was quite simple and over repetitive.

Great book on the emotion: Anger.
Used this with young students before and we talked about what triggers their frustration and appropriate and safe ways to deal with anger.

I've attached a worksheet (adjustment on a previous post) and a word search. The kids enjoyed them and it kept them quiet for 15 mins.

Cards to go with the matching activity for the 1st period.  The game is explained in the ppt.

Have them keep the cards faced down until you tell them to start.

It did not go too well with my only class so far.  Maybe it'll pan out better with the other ones and with your classes.
