2010 Grade 4 Lesson 7 - "Who Is She?"
« on: November 11, 2009, 01:44:54 pm »
A powerpoint you can use to create a game.

I divided the class into teams and made it a speed game (whoever could ring their team's bell first).

Before showing the picture I would make the whole class tell me "male" or "female" based on "he" or "she."

They didn't know all of the people. I also had slides with me, my coteacher, and my girlfriend.

I made this game for open class earlier this year. The basic idea is to get 4 in a row. First the students play "rock, paper, scissors." Afterward, they take turns choosing spaces and using the correct classroom expressions. The winner is the student whom gets 4 in-a-row. Not difficult at all.

Just so you know... The picture of the man holding the baby is "He is my husband," while the picture of the father and son playing golf is "He is my father." Also, the picture of the boy holding the #1 trophy is "This is me." The two babies are the son and daughter pictures. Good luck and hopefully it works in your classroom!!!

Hey, I wanted to offer a small suggestion. It's something I will use to entertain my kids. This site offers an online video.. similar to the Jib-jab things.. anyway, you can add your face or another persons face (a student would be good) and just keep asking the question who is he? she? this? or get the kids to shout it out when they see the photo appear in the hero video.. they will enjoy it.

Just skip the intro when you can and have a picture ready to add at the beginning of each class.

Merged two threads together.  Both were labeled "Who is she?" but one said Lesson 7 and the other said Lesson 5.  Please let me know if I need to change the number.

Does anyone remember "Heads Up Seven Up"? I used to LOVE this game when I was a kid, and my students love it too. I made the "guessers" chant "Who is he/she/it?" before they could make their guesses. You can turn off the lights to start the game, or have the kids chant "Heads down, thumbs up".

Here are my 'lesson plans' and materials for this unit. Sorry the lesson plans aren't in a very good format, my school is happy for me to just have them as notes for myself.

I think I used some pictures of me and my students for one of the ppts so check before you use it!
