안녕하세요! My name is Aaron and I am from Southern California. I am currently going to college and am applying for a scholarship program that will send me to Korea to teach English to Elementary school students. Part of the application requires me to make a lesson plan. I am trying to figure out the level of English that the average 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grader would be at so I can make a lesson plan that fits the grade I choose. I came across this website while trying to figure that out. From what I have seen so far, there is more information on individual grade levels of students here than any other website I have visited. Thank you to all those who created or added to this website and thank you to any of those who feel inclined to offer me advice on their own experiences with children's English levels in specific grades.

I'm kind of being nosey but, I'm curious about the scholarship program - I've never heard of anyone doing this in Korea. 

If you take a look around the lesson plans we have posted by each grade level maybe that will help give you an idea about the average level.

Typically, lesson plans involve coverage of specific grammar points...for example, "Can you (verb)?"

Rest assured, you can plan a 40min lesson that should cover some of these ideas:

Pre-teach grammar
Warm-up activity
Activity #1 (game of some sort)
Coverage of book (if given one)
Activity #2 (another game covering grammar point)
Conclusion review

Most classrooms in Korea are equipped with up-to-date technology, so PPT games are super helpful across the ages.

For the younger ones, grammar should remain somewhat basic...introductions, I like I don't like, etc.
For the older ones, you can cover more advanced ideas : like opinions (I think you should), dream jobs ( I want to be____), etc

Thank you for the information. The program gives me a lesson plan I have to fill out (and make two pages). I am not positive on what to put, if you wouldn't mind looking at it an giving me pointers, I would appreciate it. I will upload the plan layout and what I have so far.
