We are doing adjectives with Grade 4 Lesson 4 "How old are you?" and Grade 5 Lesson 3 "What a nice day!"

The above ppt uses pictures to create a sentence using a pattern:  Adjective + Noun + Verb (+ noun)

Students first guess the word for each image.

Then, the student makes a sentence beginning with "Everyday, _____"

I plan to modify it for Grade 5 to use the past tense...

This is a review game using the newly acquired sonic game template. I added to the adjectives and numbers in the lesson since the lesson is a bit lacking and my students' level is quite high.

I made a ppt and a boardgame (using other's template) for this lesson! My school is a little behind, so I just taught this lesson today.

This is the perfect lesson to play '4 Corners'.  Point to the different corners of the rooms and give the students the different descriptors.  They sort themselves into the corners.  You can even introduce comparatives and superlatives inductively by having the students in each corner (say the 'strongest' corner) to arrange themselves according to that trait (strong to strongest).

For 20 minutes we looked at numbers (quite important for telling the age and a good recap to help them learn the numbers for telling the time).

Two games.

First game.

Students were divided into three teams of 10. Each team then raced to count numbers between 1-10, 11-20,21-30 and 31 to 40 while passing a ball between them. At one stage we would also count backwards.

Second game.

The whole class counted to 30. We timed the class and then compared it with other classes. So far my two classes have had times of 25 and 30 seconds respectively. This was done using a ball and thus it gives a bit of chaos/fun if a student drops the ball.

With both activities the students get annoyed if another student makes a mistake thus helping reinforce learning. Having a ball ads a bit more to the game as students get to pass something and it ads a bit of fun if a student drops the ball during the race.

Trashball.

1) Class is placed into teams of 5.
2) In each team the students take turns writing the answer to the question on the PPT.
3) Once they have written the answer they screw up their trash-ball and throw it into a trash can. You can give different points depending on which trash can they get it into. They love throwing their ball into a tiny 3 point can - which most students miss.
4) If they get the answer right they get additional points.

The ppt contains either pictures or the Korean word which the students have to translate.
