I got a noted from a student saying "Teacher i'm sorry I'm so noisy but you make English fun".  I no like English but you make me want to study more.

I almost cried like a little boy. Almost.   :P
After my ass chewing from a Co teacher it made my day.

Walking into my last class on Friday, I go into my initial shpeel of "How's it going?" not really expecting much aside from "[I want to] go home/sleep"

Out of nowhere, one of my boys stands up and says, "Teacher!!  You're the most important part of my life".

This made me laugh hysterically because of the ambiguity (Am I THAT awesome or is his life tediously boring?) and the emotional desperation akin to "Teacher!! Help me!!".
You get what you give :)

HAHA.. I'm sure you know this already, but to those that don't.. Koreans don't know anything about South Africa. to them.. Africa is Africa.  Their little heads would probably explode if you told them that Canada and USA are in North America.
If you teach a class that has all special needs kids with only the physical ability to move their hands up and down, then you'll be fired because they all gave you checks instead of circles.

In my experience, most people from countries outside of the African continent know nothing about SA beyond apartheid, Nelson Mandela (who is no longer our president for those of you who think that he is) and the 2010 World Cup.  I've met other NETs who've asked where in Africa I'm from when I say SA, told me that it's impossible for me to be South African because I'm white  and, my favourite, those who've actually corrected me and told that I meant to say I'm from South America  :o

Context: I'm teaching a lesson on acronyms and abbreviations and asking my students what acronyms they know and what they mean.

Student: NASA!
Me: And what does it stand for?
Student: North America Space... America.

Also "FIFA" stands for "Football International Fighting America".

In a class discussion regarding why people move to America, one student raised her hand and confidently stated that "in America, all people have cute clothes and wonderful jeans". When I asked her another reason she thought people might move to America, she replied "Alexander Graham Bell".

Looks like it might be time for a history lesson.

If I have one day of growth on my face, one of my students will always make a point to 1) touch my face and 2)tell me that I am a "very very dirty teacher".

During winter English Camp, when the students were playing scavenger hunt and one of the students asked me for a clue by saying:

Teacher, you are so pretty. You are so beautiful. You have Miss Korea gene. Now can you please give us a hint?

When we were learning the "I think..." structure, and I asked them what they think about the summer, one of my students said, "I love beaches because I can see a lot of sexy women and bikinis."

I teach at an all-boy's middle school =).

I got the following in a Teacher's Day card... I'm glad they were as confused by the association as I was.
"Teacher, when I think of you I think of a tree but I don't know why."

A 4th grade boy replying to his pen pal letter:

Teacher, I sex man!

What?????

I sex man! (while repeatedly pushing the 'talk' button on the electronic dictionary so that it is saying "sex. sex. sex. sex. sex."

Excuse me?

I sex man. (now with a big grin on his face)

Let me see. (I take the dictionary from him thinking that I must be hearing him wrong - I'm not)

But then the penny drops....

Oooooooooohhhhh!!!! Your GENDER IS male!!!! (I start giggling)

No, you should write: "I am a boy."

Another boy realises what just went down - translates it to the class, and then we're all in stitches while this poor kid is  (laughing &) shouting "NO TEACHER!! NOOO!"
