A blog in Busan PLUS Salsa Dancing Info.
« on: February 18, 2011, 08:31:19 PM »
Originally from New York, I've been living in Busan for 6 months and wanted to share my blog, full of photo sets. I occasionally blog about my experiences going salsa dancing which is pretty popular here and in Seoul.

To check out my blog: http://ssantanakoreatravels.tumblr.com/

If you're looking for more info. about salsa clubs or classes in Busan let me know!
Quick info: There's Latino, Fever, and the Salsa in Seomyeon and Neo Starface in Haeundae.
Recently, Fever has been offering beginner salsa class on Friday nights for 10,000won. This includes unlimited soft drinks. There's also some beginner classes being offered in Kyungsung at Jenny Bar at 7pm and one at Neo Starface in Haeundae at 8pm, both on Saturday nights.

* How to find the Jenny Bar:
Take Subway Exit #3 or #1 at Kyeongsung station
Go 50m down the alley Between Century building and KT building,
Find 7 Eleven on your right. Enter this building and go to the 3rd floor.
Jenny bar is right there.

Thanks for your time and hope to see you on the dance floor!

Hi inkblot,

I'm being posted to Chungbuk Province and am also a salsa dancer so wondered if you knew of any clubs there?  Also, what sort of standard of dancing do they have here in Korea compared to New York? Do they dance on2 or on1?

Thanks,

Colm

Hey Colm,

I've gotta ask some of my salsa friends about Chungbuk!
But a quick reply on the dancing, in Seoul, the level's pretty high and most dance on2. There's many salsa dancers and they could go until 4am dancing. Over here in Busan and Ulsan, it tends to be on1 but there are a handful of people who do very well on2. From what I've seen, Koreans tend to do pretty well technically. Hope that helps and if I find out info on Chungbuk I'll let you know.

Salsa Update:

My friend and I are creating a webpage about salsa dance-related events in the Busan area and wanted to know if anyone out there would like to get involved. We would like to expand the site to include other dance types such as swing, hip-hop or belly-dancing because we know there are a lot of foreigners out there interested in dance classes. If you're currently taking any class and can help us with updating information about class times/locations or know Korean and help us talk to dance instructors/DJs/club owners/etc that would be a great help! And if you want to help us think up and write some articles for our site we could use your help to! Send me a message on here if interested. Thanks!

Hello Inkblot. I am from a a very small town in Gangwon-do. I am headed to Busan this weekend and I would love to go to a Salsa spot if I have time. Is there anything in particular going on this weekend. I am going to a baseball game and won't be getting out till like 11pm.
