Shipping costs to he UK
« on: May 30, 2011, 02:25:12 pm »
Does anyone know where I could find prices for shipping a package to the UK? The obvious answer is a post office, but I know that im going to have to spend at least half an hour explaining myself and my intentions to the worker in the post office as im certain that they wont speak any English. Are there any english language websites out there that list this kind of information?

Ask your co-teacher or Korean friend to call the Post Office.

Good idea. The weight will most likely be around 1kg?

Its really easy. You don't need to say much. Just Yonguk (England) and say EMS if you want it there within 2 days or not  EMS if there's no time rush.

I sent stuff home non EMS and it cost 44,000 for a large 10kg box! Non-EMS takes around 2 weeks.

I think for a 1kg box I sent one Xmas it cost me 40,000 with EMS.

Yep its speedy and a good service, i was shocked by the prices aswell.

the 20kg box by ship, is really helpful when u leave the country. i sent about 5 boxes back, it makes our Postal system look ridiculous (done a Xmas temp job at a Royalmail sorting center).

The Korean Post Office ( 우체국) has six different sizes of boxes which will be on display. You must package your items in the post-office provided boxes.

I sent a size 5 box home today, with several books (some quite heavy), music stuff and clothing. It cost 35,000 won. The guy said it will take two months.

Some useful words might be 받는사람 (receiver), 싸요 (cheapest) and of course other basic things like 얼마예요? (how much is it?), 언제요 (when) and of course 영국 (UK).

Your items will be shipped under the code of GB  for Great Britain.

The form you will complete also has English. Just remember to write down basic information like contents and total value.

Easy.
