I've only been here for 2 weeks but I'm using Olleh and have no problems.

Maybe someone whose been in Korea for a longer time can elaborate...

My husband and I have had a contract with LG for one year now. We had no problems at all.

Just make sure the price is good and all the perks then anyone should be fine!!

Good luck!!

KT/Olleh tends to be cheaper and has better service, and from what I hear from most of my Korean friends, they prefer it. However, SK allows you to get a smart phone like iPhone, Galaxy S, etc, without having to have a Korean cosigner. So I guess you have to see what you want more.

I have KT with the iPhone and its great. Before my iPhone, I still used KT and never had a problem, huge bill, or lack of service.

I have heard LG is the way to go if you're only staying one year

KT also allows you to get a smartphone with no Korean cosigner. You just have to pay for the phone up front, or tell them you are staying for two years. I told them I was staying for two years, and now I pay 55k a month for unlimited data, 200 or 300 minutes/texts (I forget exactly). Also pay like an extra 10k a month for insurance and my smartphone. (Not paying to have a smartphone, just slowly paying for the cost of it cause I didn't want to buy it outright).

I'm with OLLEH.  I don't really get the difference between the two but I did hear from a few friends that SK's rate plans are a bit cheaper!  Go around your city to see if there are more OLLEH or SK stores.  I don't know about SK but OLLEH has global/international stores in Seoul and near Seoul area.

I'm in the market for a phone here, but I can't get one until I get my ARC (receipt approximates one month). I'm looking at getting a galaxy s2. I heard it's possible to get a smart phone without your arc, anyone know about this? I am new to korea and smart phones, basically I plan on a two year contract and hope to get the phone for free by signing a two year. I'd prefer this and cheaper plans, getting service in the subway would also be a big bonus.

For KT Olleh, does anybody know if the 55,000 plan with unlimited data include the hotspot/tethering option? I've been using my iphone for my wifi at home but I hope that it doesn't end up with a ridiculously high bill for my phone.

I'd contact KT Olleh. Also check out the KT Olleh blog. Their number and web site are listed here:
