How to download fonts from the internet to Word
« on: November 25, 2010, 07:58:52 am »
I'm sure many of you already know how to get fonts from the web, but I kind of stumbled upon the method while making a Harry Potter themed workbook for winter camp.  I was thrilled and thought I'd share!

Find the font you want online.  There are a lot of great resources!  Just type a subject followed by the word font into google and you'll find anything you can dream of!

Once you find your font, download it.
A screen should pop up with your font in .zip format.
At the top of the screen, there should be a thing that says "wizard"
Click on that and then click "finish" in the screen that pops up.
A new window will pop up with the font in a TT (true type) file.  Copy this file.
Go to the start menu and click on setting, control panel.

Find the fonts folder.
Now paste your new font in there and it should be usable in word.

Hope this helps someone out there!  Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

Find the fonts folder.

Go to My Computer >> C: drive >> WINDOWS >> Fonts

Further, so you don't have to install the special font on all computers you may use, ensure "embed truetype fonts" option is checked in the "save as options" menu.

wow...I wish I would have found this on Friday.  I spent a good amount of time with my co-teacher figuring it out because my computer is in Korean and hard to read!  plus neither of us are computer savvy!

My game pack contains a tutorial on how to embed fonts in PowerPoint 03 and 07 similarly to Word.
