This is a song you can use with this lesson, "Telephone" by a certain Lady.  This is a Glee cover, and there's a short clip you can use http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1-jqPXGTSQ. The original audio track is attached also, but you'll have to re-synch the PPT lyrics and illustrations if you want to go that route.  The enunciation in the Glee version is arguably better.  I also like to remove timing and the audio track and use the lyrics for reading practice, alternating with singing.

I use this game for level 4 lesson 6. "Heads Up, 7 Up". I love using power points but any excuse to get them moving in class is always good. Plus, I love this game when I was younger. http://www.ehow.com/how_2060050_play-heads-up-seven-up.html

I made a simple (no-hyperlinks) PPT game for Day 5: The Gorilla Game.

Despite its simplicity, the students really liked it!  (Probably due to the major role Rock-Paper-Scissors plays, as well as the disappearing numbers for scoring.)

Since all the other games I've used were basically telephone dialog role-plays, this game focuses instead on the usage of "You must.." and "Let's..."

A few of the pictures could elicit either sentence, so both are listed.  (Ex. "You must practice the piano. / Let's play the piano.")

Here are some more games I used this lesson.  Mostly from the old book lesson 14 thread (with modifications).  Thanks, as always, to the original posters!

1) Telephone Game using Student Numbers - practice reading the phone conversations

2) Printable Smart Phones for the above game. I printed them on a color printer, cut and laminated, then taped them onto cardboard.  Used them many times throughout the lesson!

3) Angry Birds story PPT* - This came from last year's lesson 15 "Can you join us?" but it includes a phone call and "must", so I just changed it up a little bit.  Really great way to get the Ss interested in reading!

4) Angry Birds Game - revised for this lesson, as a tie-in with the story above.  I added back in the points slide, from a different template for this game.  Make sure to enable macros (look for "E" if your Office is in Korean) so you can use it!

*EDIT (February 2013): Now that we've finished the book, I realize that I could have saved the Angry Birds story for lesson 15 (since "Can you join us?" is part of the target language in that lesson).  Oh well.

This is a game PPT. 4 people will be one group. Some students in a group should stand up saying 'Sorry, i can't.' or 'Sure, I can.' And a teacher will show the number on the screen. If the number of standing people is same as the number on the screen, the team will get a point.
Glad to meet this Waygook^^

Here's a great song that was on my computer, and also a funny telephone skit with animals. The dialogue isn't great in the animal skit, but it's funny and can motivate the students.

Small PPT I made for the first class.

3 parts. 1st is a mini-game. Click on the box from bottom up to reveal a character. The winner must use the full "may I" structure.

2nd is an introduction to the "let's..." suggestive structure, with examples of yes/no and reasons why.

3rd Is a practice of the 2nd using visual clues only. Optional practice, only used it for my one highly advanced class!

I made these for the second period. One is a script like the one in the book but they can change some of the sentences. The other is a powerpoint to help memorize the dialog in the book.

This is a great Phone Call Dialog Practice PPT, which has the advantage of also being FUNNY!

I took the Fiona PPT above (thanks for the great idea!), along with an old one I had, and changed the old part.  Now there are three parts:

Part 1 - Students read and complete the dialog between President Obama and President Park.  The superimposition of the presidents' heads over animated gifs cracked up every single class!

Part 2 - Woohyun (from INFINITE) calls a random girl in the class.  I taped one of my paper smart phones (see above for the file) under a random chair in one of the girl rows, and she had to answer.  The rest of the class had to read Woohyun's part.  If the selected girl was too shy, I let her pass the phone to someone else (usually a girl who really liked INFINITE).

Part 3 - Fiona calls a boy, whomever had my 2nd paper smartphone under their chair.  I changed this a bit to make it more clear that the boy doesn't want to fall in love with Fiona.  I also made a rule that they couldn't give the reason as "You're ugly" or else Fiona was going to come to their house and punch them in the face.  I told them they had to make up an excuse using MUST (as the dialog prompts them to), or else Fiona would definitely come to their house.

Just made a Nyan Cat pass the ball game for phone words but I put it in the Frances Sohn chapter with a similar theme. Also that forum just has a lot more in terms of materials.

I am going to play heads up, thumbs down with my classes. The students who are chosen and put their thumb down have to practice a telephone converstaion to try to guess who chose them.

I edited a Sleeping Elephants for a writing game. The first one is just an example of how the game is played.

This is a find a friend and decipher the code game. print the sheets back to back and get the kids to find friends to do the same activity with. The first team to make the word from the symbols is the winner.
There is also a simple ppt to explain the language required.

Someone posted a great Battleship game for speaking and I improved it a bit (no offense)! I think this game would be great.

Excellent for the 2nd lesson. The last slide is the handout to the students. Print them for your classes.
