Picture Reveal Game (interesting animals/sports/foods)
« on: June 14, 2011, 10:09:43 am »
Here's a simple vocabulary game. A picture lies behind small black blocks which disappear one at a time with a mouse click. I reward the first student to guess what the picture is. You can use the game as is or substitute your own pictures and review different vocabulary. The pictures are all photoshopped images where two animals/foods/sports etc. have been combined. Students must guess what has been combined in the picture.

I've been using this for Grade 2 Lesson 5 for the Christian Kim book. My students are loving it! I've yet to make it through the whole presentation, so it really does take up the whole time. Thank you so much!!

I finally had the chance to play this with my kids. They loved it. They are low level country kids, so we used white boards and picture dictionaries instead of the kids shouting out the answer. I did not get through it either, maybe 1/3 way through, so I will def. play it again.

Nice Nice! Worth1000 is legendary. This is a really good employment of their madskillz. The kids loveuh this type of guessing thing for compound words, so I'm sure they are gonna get fired up about this too. kisses.

I've used this at my elementary and middle school both, it gets a great response. Can also last forever - probably 2 full lessons worth, although of course I don't suggest playing it for that long in one go. Fantastic backup game for surprise classes or for if your class goes wrong.

Hey am I doing something wrong here? I keep getting sent to the Worth1000 website instead of to the next slide.

Great post though!

Yeah, I had that problem. You can't click the pictures. Arrow keys works though!

hey buddweiser, thanks for the game. It's gone down a treat this week as we start back at school with a bit part schedule.
I've been buzzing through the game (i've deleted the slide before the photo as after a while my kids were just shouting out things before they appeared) and it now works better (for me anyways!).
However, i've found some more photo's i'd like to add on and wonder how you get the picture to reveal itself?

Cheers!

Wow, thank you so much for this game. My kids really enjoyed this last week after mid-term exams. I edited it a bit by revealing the answer when the picture is complete, my lower level students didn't understand that it's 3 words and not 3 sports. Will upload if anyone wants it? Thanks again!
