Grade 4 Lesson 7 - That's a Good Idea (Cameron Wood)
« on: August 31, 2011, 01:11:00 pm »
This is a ppt I made for the 4th grade book with big block letters on the cover (one author is Cameron M. Wood).
It's a powerpoint for Lesson 7: That's a good idea!, period 1 (I made it for the students to practice the key phrases used in the play and talk section).

Here's a modified Blazing Pens game. I am using it for lesson 7.4 (let's read and write).

Here is a variety challenge game I made for this lesson. It should be pretty self explanatory but if anyone needs any clarification, just let me know! : )

I made this pass the ball/guessing game for period 1 but it can be used as review or warm up.

The first slide will outline how I split up the key sentences for this lesson.

This is for the second period. It's guessing game in the textbook but I made it simpler so students can enjoy the game as a whole class.
My school is quite small (15 students in a class) so if your class is big , you can change or not. It's up to you.

Also I changed "bomb game" which someone already posted somewhere else in grade 4.
The questions are dialogue from look and listen 2 & listen and speak.
It's quite easy and small cuz my class is small.
Maybe you can use it as a quick review of the dialogues or put more simple questions such as It's ______/ That's right.

I gave them one point if they got the answer right, and when the bombs comes up every team loses all of their points.
Super simple, but Kids loved it!

Hope it helps.

Hi all

Agree this is a somewhat 'muddled' lesson in terms of its objectives.

The Pororo bomb game is great! My co-teacher and I have agreed to add the expression "That's a Bad Idea' to the lesson to make it a tad more challenging.

I want to amend the Pororo game to include a few more slides showing 'thats a bad idea'. For example, one slide showig a person littering, another smoking etc.

I have tried to modify the existing Pororo game but I dont know how to:

1. Add a new slide and have it link back to a number on the front page.
2. Add a slide after each new slide which has rewards/switch points etc. on it. Also, when I try to create a new slide it keeps the cupcakes in the background and I cant get rid of them etc.

Any suggestions?

It's quite simple to do, that is once you know how to do it :-P

I know that isn't much help and I wish I could explain it to you but not an extra minute this week. It's all about hyperlinks "(right click an object... hyperlinks)... and yeah, dunno how to delete the cupcakes, but if you want to make a new slide just click 'make new slide' and for the slides with points, just copy them to make new ones.

Jumbled and vague but that's the best I can do now. Sorry!

Here is a short PPT "That's a bad idea!"

Nothing special, but good enough to demonstrate the expression.

Here are two ppt's that I used for this lesson. The first was the intro and the second was a lesson opener. If you have any questions let me know!

This spongebob game is so amazing!  I will play it in class next week!

The first slide though says I need to download a font in order to edit it.  How/where do I go to download a font?

Please help!  I need it for monday!

Thanks!

For period 1: I did the normal textbook stuff, and used the pass the ball game on here. The game went over very well.
I also decided to introduce the idea of that's a bad idea as well. I found this excellent video on youtube from the animaniacs Good Idea Bad Idea segments. The kids loved it, and they understood better the difference between good ideas and bad ideas.
