Grade 4, lesson 8 - What Are You Doing? (Cameron Wood book)
« on: October 11, 2011, 03:33:32 pm »
Just some simple dialogue.  Not really a game, I just call it that so the kids will want to do it.  Also, some of the other material I have made, as an after thought.

Made a Halloween game that fits this lesson, with some questions from older lessons in this book.

I liked these materials and use them to go over the vocabulary, thanks
I also made this (guess what it is) game.
Then, they played charades in groups using cards like these:  "You are talking.  You are runing.  You are walking.  You are dancing.  You are singing.  You are sleeping.  You are jumping."  A pretty fast paced 15 minutes!

The halloween game is awesome... but all the ones I clicked on said the same thing: "What are you doing? I am running" ....???? Help! I want to use it as a (slightly belated) game for my first lesson tomorrow morning.

Are you using the latest version of powerpoint? pptx?

If not, then that may be your problem.

Hi,
Here is a game for the students. Students get into teams and each team member has a number from 1 to 4 or however many members there are. The students all close their eyes and the teacher shows the first letter. student number 1 from each team opens their eyes and sees the letter. then they close their eyes and the other team members take turns seeing a letter (or word). When all Students have seen a letter they 'wake up' and write the letters on a whiteboard and make a word (or sentence)

This is for 8.3 role play. I printed out enough scripts for everyone. Get them into groups of about 7. 3 can be "forest animals" and have one line (best for low level, shy students). The others are the main characters of the role play. Have them watch the animation, repeat, practice, etc., and then each group perform for the class. Only make one set of masks. I taped chopsticks on the back of the mask so they can hold it up. They loved this! I made it sound like they were going to be stars in a drama.

It was a lot of work to make the masks, but I reuse them for other class role plays and dialogues to make students want to get up and do the dialogue.

I also highlighted their parts for each role.

This sounds absolutely fabulous! I'm going to try it with my students next week. I have a feeling they are really going to love this one ;D

Here is a word unscramble game that I will use as a warm up with my 4th graders. They will work in teams to be the first ones to unscramble the word.

Halloween game with some questions from previous lessons.

When you click the red markers, be careful that you click the right place or you will go to the wrong slide.

And some classes may find it a little scary, but when I did it last year with my grade 4's they were fine. They wanted it scarier.
