I guess most schools aren't up to this lesson yet, so I had to create all new materials for a change.  Here you go.  The Pokemon game is adapted from a different lesson.  Enjoy!

:o For those who have posted games and materials for Lesson 14, I'm extremely grateful.  Thank you for your wonderful ideas and your contributions to this forum.  I took a few of your ideas and fused them into a PowerPoint that could be used for Lesson 14, Period 1.  Bear in mind that the review slide is from Lesson 11, for I teach two different sixth grade lessons every week.  Everything else should be cool.  I encourage you to view the whole PowerPoint before using it for your class, for you may need to tweak it to fit your individual teaching style.

Warmest Regards,
Randall

A superhero themed choose your own adventure game I used for summer camp.  Will fit perfectly with this unit.

listening game/ gender battle (i played boys vs. girls but i know there are some classes where that would be a bad idea, so you can do teams or whatnot. my classes got really into it because it was boys vs. girls though)

+first slide has a link to a youtube clip of a kid riding a roller coaster. he makes some funny faces. i introduced by asking if anyone liked riding roller coasters. then, i asked them if their seat belt was important or not.
+next slides introduces the signs they will see in the game. teach the signs to them.
+game: each slide shows 2 pictures. the teacher describes one of them. the faster student to grab the right color gets the point. i played with 2 students at a time, but i guess if you have the space: it could work for 2-4 players?

An idea for a video is the Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go?"

Thank you for the Chase the Vocab ppt! Quite fun and impressive.  I had my students write the card number and the missing words, and tally up individual points. They seemed to have a lot of fun with the Extreme levels. I'm attaching my version, where I used the pictures from the book. Thanks!

Running man game day!
1. i used gbird's intro ppt on the story day. started with a review of should and should not
2. help these people slides: example: My room is messy. - You should clean your room.
3. read Story box....
4. running man game: click "how to play" and watch the youtube link. it's self-explanatory. It's basically a drawing game. You'll need student-sized white boards, markers, and maybe a stopwatch. My students were good about time and keeping each other on check. i only had 1 or 2 students take tooo much time.
You'll need to remind students that the answers are all in "you should ____." or "You should not _____." form.
Enjoy!

Most of my 6th graders don't respond to much, so I have to shock them sometimes to get their attention. Here's a PPT that reviews some of the sentences in the textbook and then gives reasons WHY you should or should not do something.  Your students can tell you what the reasons are by looking at the pictures, or you can explain it to them in simple English.

WARNING: Please consider how sensitive your 6th graders are before you show this. I showed a Halloween PPT to one class and a girl suddenly started crying because she said it was too scary.  Some of the frostbitten hand and rotten teeth pictures in this PPT might upset them. Thanks (^v^)/.

I capped the Mr Bean vid where he is late for the dentist, and made a PPT to fit this content.  I sandwiched it between the the review pics like the guy running away from the hippo, and the choose-your-own-adventure.  A big Thank You to the original posters.  I am only posting up my original stuff.   The video is linked here: .  I use a program called YTD to dl videos onto my computer so I don't have to worry about internet issues at classtime.  Then I embed or link them in the PPT.  Anyway, we did this lesson twice today and it was high-interest.  REMOVED

Here are some crash test dummy links that my co-teacher and I used in class.  They should definitely see the one with the child flying out of the backseat, because that could be them. The airbags in the motorcycle helmets and on the motorcycle were interesting to see, too.

Crash test with and without a seatbelt

Crash Test Child without seatbelt no seats

Unrestrained Child with normal seats in front

Crash test at 50 70 and 90

Motorcycle Crash Test with an airbag helmet

Motorcycle crash with a car in slow motion

Airbags for motorcycles

Greetings, everyone.  I just got to the last period of Lesson 14.  The FIFA bomb game is an excellent idea.  I had to change it around a bit to make the game a bit more playable and usable for my classes.  I'm certain there are probably a still glitches, for I haven't had a chance to do a final run-through to ascertain its perfection.  I'll post it when it's complete, but in the meantime, this is what I've got.

Warmest Regards,
Randall

Hey!

I took the FIFA11 ppt on this thread and changed it into a PPT you can use
before the FIFA11 PPT game.

Just wanted to say thanks for the game, my students are soccer-crazy!

Here's a short PPT that focuses on the construction about time and activities, e.g., It's 12:30, time to have lunch."  Each slide contains a clock and a picture of one activity.  They prompt the student to tell us Sentence 1.  Below that is a picture or two that calls to mind activity that is related to the first one. For the Running Man Game:

Have students line up in teams facing away from the screen. The first person in line turns around and looks at the picture and draws it on their white board (or scrap paper), shows it to the next person in line. Then the next person looks, draws their own picture and show it to the next person and so on and so on until the image reaches the last person. That person has to look at the picture and come up with a phrase.  Kind of like the telephone or whisper game but with pictures.

I'm sure you can mix it up, see who can do it fastest, use words and then draw a picture etc.  Running Man and Infinite Challenge are good TV shows that the kids know and you can possibly use the games in the classroom with some adaptations.
