Also, charades for period 1. It has a 10 second timer and students have to mime two actions simultaneously. E.g. Swimming and sleeping. Pretty hilarious... just make sure the class can't see the screen.

Lesson 15 fun talk 2:

I did fun talk with the kids, then showed them the videos linked in the ppt - then got them to talk about the video. We then played the game: modified from the 4th grade "what are you doing" trashball game (sorry can't remember who uploaded it!)

I make the kids roll a dice to decide how many throws each group will get.

Where's Wally reading worksheets.
There's 4 different ones so the students don't just copy each other.

Edit: Just taught this class and the worksheets proved to be quite tough. If you use this activity I'd suggest just using the sports picture. I think it's slide 4. Unless your students are quite advanced.

Here's an easy PPT with the present progressive verbs introduced in the textbook. A 'Pass the Bomb' style game follows (based on the introduction/textbook verbs).

here's an easy sleeping elephants game.
students work in groups of 4. they choose the order 1-4. everyone puts their heads down and all the number 1's look at the screen and see their word or letter. then puts their head back down. same goes for 2,3,4. then they work together to make a complete word or sentence. super easy and super fun.

Here's a writing game that my co teacher found and adapted from the Korean waygook-esque site.
It can be played with white boards or paper.
Students predict the sentence.

An ppt for period 2.

I plan on doing a whispering game with nonsense words to practice "Did you say ...?". Students pass the words down the line using this key expression. If the word at the end is pretty much the same as at the start they will get a point.

I played this song for my kids every day during this lesson. They loved it! On the last day I ended up giving them the lyrics printed out and had each group sing a verse. It went over well! :)

I made a 'gif' ppt for practice and a worksheet for brainstorming different 'ing' words. I plan to play 'Show & Tell Sharades' with them after they've completed the worksheets in their groups.

Here are my materials for this chapter. My school is late in finishing the textbook so l am only starting my lesson 2 (L2) tomorrow.

L1 - G5 Ch15 L1 ppt includes intro, practice and hidden picture game at end. I actually played the Avengers Game and didn't do the hidden pictures.

L2 - Only starting tomo so apologies for any mistakes in the PPT, l will amend and update my files here as l find them. G5 Ch15 L2 ppt includes a listen & write review, What Word Am I practice activity and Pictionary Game.

Reading Rotation Game
I got this template from another user (Thank you!!!).
Groups of four.
There are three rounds. The students must read the sentence one word at a time. For example:
S1 stands and says "She"
S2 "is"
S3 "making"
S4 "pizza."

They have to stand up and sit for each word they say. Each student has to say at least one word. When the sentences are longer, I allowed the higher level students to take on more words. For example:

S1 "What"
S2 "is"
S3 "she"
S4 "doing?"
S1 "She"
S2 "is"
S1 "jumping."

To earn a point, they cannot pause between words and each student must say at least one word. For the final round, each group can try to read the dialog. It's really long so the students laugh when they see each other popping up and down so much as they read.

I also have a practice ppt for period 1. The topic is easy so I have them practice for I, you, he, she, it, we and they. I had them play snakes and ladders after, so thanks to CALNY for posting that!
