Hello!

I know some people are looking for help with the new edition haha. So I decided to post my simple ppt for Lesson 1 L&S1. The ppt goes through the basics of talking about hopes etc. I like to add lots of gifs to engage the class… hopefully they all function well. I've left behind some extra slides of material I was originally going to use. Maybe they can be helpful for some future ppts.

I can't ever really do in-class activities because my co-teacher likes using the CD but there are some nice worksheets from other members. Feel free to PM me any questions. Let me know how it goes for you!

*Added is a version with just a tad bit of Korean to help students come up with the correct sentences. (I know Korean so I help them along the way... you might want to add more if you're not fluent). I also added two vids just to give the kids a bit of fun. (I only play up to the point where Shang says, "I'll make a man out of you."

My lessons on Lesson 1: Dear Future Me. Included are the PPTs and documents needed for the activities.

NOTE: After teaching both lessons several times I fixed a few errors I had made. Hope this helps. Feel free to modify for your class.

I do the functions in the book: 'I hope to ...' and 'You like apples, don't you?' for this chapter

Just to note for my first week on this chapter I did the bucketlist lesson that is floating around waygook - do a search for it, it's a goodie! (In that lesson I focused on "I hope to")

Here's my second ppt that focuses more on tag questions:
- Students make a 2 truths, 1 lie set of bucketlist items i.e. I hope to ___ x3 then I tuck them away for later

- Explain tag questions with examples

- double check they know the opposites of do, is, are, can, will

- I have a few pics of animation characters with facts about them. The students check those facts with a tag questions

- After they've become pretty confident - go through the 2 truths, 1 lie slips that they've written. When they guess the lie they should check via a tag question i.e. "You don't want to go scuba diving, do you?"

Maybe modify some of this info to get students imagining life in the future along with some Jetsons or Futurama Clips.

Lesson 1B - Do you / Don't you

I used tkhalilstar34's Go Fish Dash activity, but made some changes to it for a large class.

There will be 3 teams made up of two groups of students in a line. the students at the front of each line ask and answer the question. Positive answer if student B has the correct card, negative if not. Students then go to the back of the line (or change places and go to the back if no card is traded) and the next students play. The first team to pair up all cards wins.

After that, I have them do the survey on page 13.

If you use Jaysoon17's ppt, make sure to take out the slides about Jonghyun from SHINEE. He recently passed away due to suicide, so it may be a sensitive topic. Just FYI!
