Well, since there's nothing here ATM, I figured I would contribute a short intro PPT.  Feel free to modify or make suggestions.

A simple bingo game. The students draw a 9 box bingo board and write down their vocabulary words.

Voca: big, small, little, long, short, dirty, clean, tall, fast, slow

This is primarily listening with some writing and reading (no speaking) so I'll simply say a sentence with the vocabulary word they need to circle.

I'm going to have them play 4 times. First is single bingo (3 and in row), second is four corners bingo, third is double bingo, and fourth is box bingo (all but the center).

Also, here's a song someone posted on another thread...

The most simple of simple ppts.
My students are relatively high level and know the words and concepts so I used this as a refresher.

Feel free to modify and add more detail to it depending on what your students need.

I made a vocab review and hot seat game for part 1. Hot seat is essentially charades in reverse. All the other kids act out the picture for the student in front who does not see the picture. Cheers!

I found a cute game from an old textbook. I modified it a bit to fit this lesson. It's a guessing game. I'm going to have the students mime out big, small, long, or short. If they are wrong, they are out. Cheers!

Pictionary cards: choose a card and the student will draw it. the guessing student will say "Is it a ______?"
Yes it is/No it isn't
When they guess correctly, say "Wow, it's big/small/short" I think I'm going to turn this into a group game - two people per team - and they will move along on a board game.

Hidden pictures. Students should guess using the key expressions above.

Simple Showtime dialogue Review with pictures from the video and the final slide is of a colour coded dialgue for the kids to practice with before they perform.
I usually like to add in several fill in the blank versions for kids to practice but this dialogue seemed so simple and I didn't leave myself time to do it. I may add it in later.
But for now here is this for you to use and or change to your whimsy.
Enjoy.

Here's a reading game I did for period 2. My students are pretty low level so I had them only the word, but if you have higher level students you could change the words to actual sentences.
  • Divide students into groups of 3-5
  • One by one, each student in a group reads a word
  • If there is a fish behind that word the group gets 1 point, if it's a shark, 3 points, if nothing, zero points. (Click on the box to reveal what's behind it.) Continue until every student in the group has read.
  • There are 4 fish and 1 shark on every page. Groups usually score 3-5 points per turn.
  • For a bonus round, tell students that they can choose only two group members to read and that the points are doubled (2 and 6 points). My kids completely lost it.
Note:
  • If you have uneven numbers of students in the groups, each group should be given the same number of chances to read as the largest group. IE: If you have one group of 5, every group of 4 students should be allowed 5 turns to read.
  • Each group should be given a fresh PPT slide at the start of their turn, so the odds of scoring are the same.

The review sections aren't hyperlinked on the index page yet, but here is a review bomb game for stuff from lessons 1-7. Good way to review at the end of lesson 7.

Thanks to the person that created the Frozen bomb game originally. :-)

My kids completely lost it.

Love it when my kids lose it.

Incredibily simple and effective! Especially for a low class! Lots of good repetition, self-monitoring (each team keeps their own score), and fun scoring! A variation: If you have students who are stronger, with each game, make a few words and a few sentences. The stronger kids need to read the sentences.

Thanks!

Got my students to make a book about animals after finishing Check Up / We Are The World.

- explains how to fold the printout to make the book.

Also attached a PPT with a few examples of different big / small / long / short animals. Kids can come up with their own ideas if they want to ofc.

I'm lucky to have animal puppets in the classroom and so I gave the students 1 between 2 (smallish class) and had them make a dialogue which they then performed for the class.

The kids really loved playing with the puppets but even if you don't have any, you could just have a pair perform as you go through each picture.

I didn't do this for this book but for another.  I am writing this so I don't forget to do this for tomorrow because I am using this book this year.

1.  Show students big, small, long, and short objects or pictures (the CDs and print outs have some great pictures to use.)  Other adjectives can be added for higher leveled students, such as color.  "It is a big and brown monkey.  It is a small and orange pony."

2.  Have students close their eyes, so that they can't see.  Hide the objects in your class.

3.  Have one or two students, not all, get up, and find one object.  When they find it they must say, "It is a (adjective) (object)."

4.  (Optional)  If you want to make it a point game.  The first student that finds the object and says the target language gets the point. If they do not know, the other student can say it and steal the points.

Period 2 charades game. Got the idea from someone else. Simple PPT game using animals - two or three students stand with their backs facing the TV and each ask a question (is it big, is it long, etc.) then try to guess which animal it is (using the key sentence "Is it a..?" Student who guesses first gets a point.

I used this for 7.2

I compiled a few things from other waygookins and created on slideshow for my 3rd graders. It includes vocabulary words, a song, practice phrases, and a game.
