Speaking rock paper scissors competition game.
 I will have to change the game design a little because speaking fast to win doesn't exactly promote the best pronunciation nor a good practice for conversational English, but my students love it nonetheless.
Game instructions. print number of game boards for half of your students. e.g. 30 students = 15 boards. Two students per board. Students start at opposite ends of the board. When I say go, i set a timer for a minute and they speak through the game spaces until they meet somewhere in the middle. At that time, they play rock paper scissors. The winner starts where the battle happened and the loser goes back to the starting point. Once a player reaches the other players 'start' they win. If rock paper scissors goes back and forth, the person closest to the other players start, wins. Pair up the winning matches until you come down a final match between students. I made them perform at the front and everyone was really into it.

made a couple of the same activities for lessons 1-5 during winter break since i didn't know when i would exactly want to use them. going to fit them into the semester whenever i see fit. hope you can use one for at least one of the first 5 lessons

Clap game using key expression for this lesson. Learned at EPIK orientation. quick instructions. Have students get in a circle. student 1 says the first word of the sentence and the next student says the next word of the sentence. When you get to the end of the sentence, the next student starts at the beginning again. As you move slides, symbols are added. Symbols correspond with actions e.g. circle is jump. When a word has a symbol on a word, you have to simultaneously say the word and do the action. Double and triple actions are eventually added. If a student fails or makes a mistakes, tell them to sit down. Choose the last few i.e. 5 of 26 for me, as the winners. Can take a long time if your not concise with your instructions, or if you have too many kids. works better for 15-20 students i'd say.

PPT based on the sections Listen and Speak for Lesson 3. Didn't make the effort to put the activities for Listen, so I'll use the CD for that. PPT covers movie genres, additional movie references for Mission A and Speak A/B section with pictures.

Week 1
Speak A
Circle Game: Explained in powerpoint. make a circle with the chairs. make 2 kids go into the middle of the circle of chairs and take their chairs out of the circle. this equates to number of students minus 2 chairs. key words can be find in the powerpoint and correspond to the circle game doc. give each kid a tab with 2 key words. depending on your class size, might have to change design of game. in mine, about 26 kids means that about 8-9 have the same words. make the 2 in the middle run through the key expression dialogue, they can pick to fill the expression with a key word. saying a word, the kids with the word must change chairs. and the 2 in the middle get to a chair as fast as they can too. should leave 2 students in the middle to start the process again. This game is a major hit and kids always love it.

I made a worksheet for the part B speaking section. It's a mix of fill in the blank and disappearing dialogue. I added a word bank because my students are a bit low level.

I only cover Speak A and B sections so I often add in other things related to the chapter.

So this is a mingle game activity that I created for the second week on this lesson. the first week I covered the listening activities from page 52 and 53 and used another posters PPT to cover movie genres etc.

So the first two pages of my game are all unique. The third page is a combination of duplicates from the first two. This is in case I have more or less students (one of my 3rd grade classes has 30 students where as another only has 24) so you can be sure there is a matching pair for each player. If you have less students then just remove some of your duplicates.

Cut out each card. seperate the halves and mix them up well. Write the appropriate responses on the board "yes, it's perfect! / that's exactly what I wanted"" or "no, it's not but thanks/ no it isn't but thanks". Students have to mingle. When they find a partner they do rock, paper, scissors to decide who goes first. They exchange dialogues. The first pair to find each other win points for their teams or candy etc. I hope you guys like it.

Hi guys,
Here are a few activities to help bulk up your lessons.

Movie guessing game:
first I run through the ppt and elicit the movie genres. Then they have to try to guess my favorite movie using the hints. One hint = 5 points, 2 hints = 3 points and 3 hints = 1 point. Just a quick note:  please hit  button 1 to reveal hint #2 and button 2 to reveal hint#3.

Movie Hot seat:
Most people know how to play hot seat but if you don't then here is how. Divide the class into 2 teams. Have a student from team A come up and face his back to the board. To be extra dramatic I blind fold that student but that's not necessary as long as they Some of the slides are tricky so I allow one "pass" per round. Repeat with team B.

Collect 3:
This is like rummy except the students have to mingle and say the dialogue. Handout 4 cards to each student (make sure they are well shuffled.) The students must try to collect 3 of the same kind. In order to do so they must say to their partner "Which movie do you want to see?" Person B  then replies "I'd like to see..." This is B's chance to get rid of a card they don't want. Person A replies,  "I'm not that interested in ..." but has to take the card anyway. Now it's A's turn to get rid of a card. This repeats with different partners. The first student to get 3 of the same kind sits down and wins the game.

The ppt is an intro to the key expressions and a variety of movie genres. Then it moves on to 5 trailers, which you watch one by one, completing the worksheet along the way. The kids then finish off the worksheet by using the key expressions to write a short paragraph on which trailer they preferred (weyhey! throwback to chapter 1), and which movie they now want to see. (I specifically tried to find movies that were from more countries than just America, to showcase that the rest of the world is also contributing some fun films.)

Hey guys I made this powerpoint a couple of years ago.  I didn't get a chance to use it with my third graders this time around because my co-teacher informed me that the exam date for middle school students is earlier than he expected so I have to start lesson 4 next class.  However, I think it might be useful for someone else eventually.  It is a lesson about movies.  It doesn't particularly focus on the language in the chapter, but it is a fun roleplay about going to the movies and you can offer the students candy to play the parts of A and B.  For the fill in the blanks for the roleplay I usually do a hangman game to help them fill in the blanks together as a class and then the answer flies up to the empty space using an animation.  The last slide is a link to the youtube video where Mr. Bean is at the movies.  Korean students love Mr. Bean.  This lesson probably might not last the whole period so you might need some filler activities.

Start with guessing the movie from pictures, cover a bit of vocab, then into the quiz. They write down answers on the answer sheet, and we check at the end. Part B – I started with another movie guessing introduction and worksheet. After finishing the listening on page 52, we played a movie-themed 20 Questions game – go through the example slides, and then have students volunteer to come to the front, choose a movie / actor / celebrity of their choice, and the rest of the class asks questions to guess who they are.

Part C – we finished off the listening, did the pair dialog worksheet, then played Go Fish using the dialog form in the book. 1 student chooses a card and makes a suggestion, and the student she asks must answer ‘Okay!’ or ‘I don’t have much interest in _____’, depending on whether she has the card or not. Explanations are all in the PPT. (The cards are a generic set I've used for various other grammar points - I suggest printing out and using just the ones that fit well into this particular dialog)

Over two weeks, I cover the listen and speak pages in the textbook. The first week, I do listening exercises along with a short activity. The second week, I do the Speak section and the Real-Life Scene and I usually have time for a longer activity. Both weeks are included in one PPT. I have attached the PPT and the worksheets I used. Thank you to the previous posters for their material.

In the first class, the students watch 3 movie trailers and then fill in the worksheet.
In the second class, the students have to design their own movie. They must come up with the plot of the movie based on the pictures they are given.
There is also a running dialogue to go with this lesson, based on the real-life scene dialogue.

Hi guys.  So the first ppt is the main one I will be using for this chapter.  I explained the key expression: "It's not the same, but thanks." The first class will probably end with the hot seat game for movie genres.  The second ppt is probably what I will probably use during my second class with the students.  I found it somewhere on waygook and the worksheet goes with it.  The material is from outside the chapter, but I think my students will like it.

I made a Speak with your Partner worksheet for this lesson.  I offer the students candy if they do the roleplay.  The worksheet is basically reemphasizing the expressions in this chapter.  This is what is on the worksheet:

(a) Hi ______________. How are you?
(b) Hi ______________. I’m _____________.
(a) Which movie do you want to see?
(b) I want to see _____________________________.
(a) Why do you want to see that movie?
(b) Because _______________________________.
(a) I’m not interested in ________________________.
(b) Then what movie do you want to see?
(a) I want to see ______________________________.
(b) Okay!  Let’s see that!
(a) Let’s go!
 
And my slide just gives them examples of what they can write.
