I'm going to use these as warm up activities for classes. A couple fun online games for practicing conditionals that I think the class will get a kick out of. May be a bit advanced for lower levels. You could choose one student to come to the front of the class and let the rest of the class assist him with answers similarly to "Who Want's to be a Millionaire?"

****EDIT I will be removing all of my materials as waygook.org wants to now charge you for something they did not create. If you would like a COPY FOR FREE, please inbox me and I would be more than happy to send you the materials. I would recommend all other users with  uploaded materials to do the same.

I'm also going to start this lesson with a song! I'm going with Beyonce's "If I were a Boy". My third graders are all girls, so I figure they'll be more into that song choice.  I haven't decided if I'm going to have them do a fill in the blanks, or just listen and read the lyrics on the screen.

I'm reinforcing the dialogue we learned in Unit 6 ("I think you should") plus this new way to give advice ("If I were you, I would...").

I'm also attaching a KakaoTalk Advice bomb game for the last part of class (credit goes to another user on this website who designed this awesome template!). If there's less than 5 minutes left, I always do hot seat to fill that time.

*Edit: here is the link for the original KakaoTalk template
http://www.waygook.org/index.php?topic=80337.0

Next week, I'll focus on Speak B (page 142) by doing a sentence scramble activity I think.

Attached is my basic ppt. + the kakao talk advice game.

My students are all quite advanced, so I am going to also get into the other conditionals besides the 2nd conditional and the "I wish" clause that this lesson focuses on (the grammar point in part B on pg.153).

I do the fun with Writing Section with my classes, so my .ppt will cover that and it has a few activities/games in it for this lesson as well.
***The shockwave flash game I have inserted near the beginning has been going over quite well with the students. I've been calling one student to the front and letting him/her decide the teacher's appearance and choose the answers in the game. I've given them the incentive of having the last 5 mins of class as free time if they can get all of the answers correct without any mistakes. Gets everyone's attention and engages them at the beginning of class.

-credit goes to other posters on this site, I have taken some of their games/ideas and adapted them for this lesson

Here is a song that I will use with Lesson 7 to practice the 2nd Conditional.

I made a "I wish i could..." game for my classes, just because the lesson seemed a little dry.
Students are given 2 choices and have to write down their preferred sentence, after which they are given (random) points based on their choice.
Just a fun exercise that takes about 15 minutes maybe, you'll have to change one of the slides as it has my picture in. Students seemed to really love getting the points.

Included is the answer sheet that each student gets.

Thanks!

Alright I'm uploading this old PowerPoint I had made years ago.  It uses the conditional so it kind of fits in with the chapter.  I made a worksheet recently which I have also attached.  The lesson ends with the "If I had a Million Dollars" song by the Barenaked Ladies.

Okay this powerpoint on giving advice I had gotten from isl collective.  I edited one of the slides to give instructions for the students to play a white board game using the phrase "If I were you I would..."

Okay so for this powerpoint I focused on grammar: the difference between "I hope" and "I wish" and the differences between "If I was" and "If I were."  Basically I am focusing on the differences between imaginary and real situations and how they affect grammar....I'm glad I used to teach grammar to adults otherwise I would be pretty clueless on how to teach this chapter.  I've also included a worksheet that I edited from esl printables.  It includes a writing activity where the students have to pretend to be the opposite gender.  Before the song I will show them the lyrics to Beyonce's song "If I were a boy" and I will show them the music video.  I really hope that more people will contribute to this thread.  Maybe someone can do slides for pg 142 the speaking section??? haha

Alright I've updated my powerpoint.  It's starting to look like enough material for a couple of different lessons especially with two different worksheets and two different games.  I've used 3 or 4 different authors for my material and I added the speaking section myself.  I got the wish and hope material from esl printables.  Hope it's helpful.

Okay so I realized after experimenting with my writing class that the "If I were a boy" poem would be too long and difficult for my students, so I made an easier version for my main class.  They'll be able to do it.  This is what my worksheet looks like.

IV: Writing:
Write your own poem or song about what you would do if you were a boy, a girl, an animal, an alien, etc.:

If I Were A ____________

If I were a ___________ even just for a day
I'd ___________________________________
And __________________________________

I'd ___________________________________
And I'd ___________________________________
because ___________________________________

Alright I'm organizing what I did over a period of three classes for this chapter.  I have two different white board games for Part C and Part D.  I only used pg 1 of the advice sheet that I found on a different waygook thread.  I've added a Real Life Scene activity for the last class.  So Part A is class 1, part b is class 2 and part c is class 3.

I really just want to say thank you to Traveler! You have worked so hard on this chapter, and I know you are saving my a** by making all of these resources. Your ppt on the grammar for WISH vs HOPE is so simple and comprehensive and I just am blown away by your generosity. Thank you thank you!

You're welcome. :)  I've had people in the past both people I knew face to face and people on waygook that have saved my a** with the resources they've made or the ideas they've suggested to me.  And I still rely heavily on a lot of material that comes out on waygook, so I'm just paying it foward.

Over two weeks, I cover the listen and speak pages in the textbook. The first week, I do listening exercises along with a short activity. The second week, I do the Speak section and the Real-Life Scene and I usually have time for a longer activity. Both weeks are included in one PPT. I have attached the PPT and the worksheets I used. Thank you to the previous posters for their material.

The students had a lot of fun in this lesson creating their own inventions. If you have the time they can present their inventions to the class. I start by showing them some inventions and asking if they think they're useless or useful. The students will also fill in a 'what if' worksheet with their partner.
