Lesson 10-1
Introduction lesson covering Key Words and Expressions in both English and Korean. Ppt and worksheet.

Lesson 10-2
Disappearing Dialogue.

Lesson 10-3
I used the Secret Code Game from jchapin45. Thanks for that one, I'd never seen it before. =]

Lesson 10-6
Minecraft Game. Slide F is broken (it resets the game, and I'm too lazy to fix it >.<).

All students stand up. Each student reads a word. The student that says "sparkle" can "kill" another student (make them sit down). The last person standing is the winner.

Someone created this very intricate pass the ball, so I changed it for this lesson. I'm going to use a play hammer and they can play RPS and bonk the loser on the head. On a couple screens I'll have a ball and a hammer passing at once so two students can do the dialogue. It takes up a lot of memory, but I think it will keep the students' attention.

So....finally figured out how to get images from the cd in the book... *sheepish grin*

Anyways: Here is a worksheet I made!  Fairly simple, the kiddos should have no problem with it at all.

Into the World - Volunteering PPT

Thanks to the original poster for the PPT Template I've been getting alot of milage out of it.

You may want to delete the last two slides about Guyana. I did volunteer work there many moons ago.

Here's a Land Grab Game board. Thats the game where the players practise the dialogue then try to flick a paperclip at the matching image to grab that land for a point. Players have to make clear their intention before flicking the clip so its pretty appropriate for anything to do with the future (or desires).

This board only uses the five core pieces of vocabulary from the listening/reading section so should be pretty straightforward. Images straight out of the textbook player cards. The practice PPT goes over all this anyway.

I have made one minor change though. Specifically, I've added two extra words to the target language ("I think I'll..."), in an attempt to fix the inconsistent and dubious context provided in the textbook.

By the way, I just want to mention how neat that Secret Agent game JChapin posted above is. An excellent listening game idea and super polished to boot!

I noticed the students at my school go all out on come student president elections, so, for the writing in this unit, we're having the kids make up election campaign posters for the President of the World. Yeah, it's pretty cheesy, but they're really gotten into this, and I've seen some equally amusing and impressive stuff come out of the classes we've had so far!

The language needed for this activity might seem tricky at first glance, but aside from the word 'president', it can be completed entirely with what they already know. Anything extra is purely a bonus. All the volunteering verbs from this unit can be adapted, and my students were dredging up various nouns from that unit on directions ("I will make schools. I will make hospitals!") Furthermore, this is a correct context of the future tense with 'will'.

Attached below is an intro PPT with examples, a basic lesson plan and some printable stuff to make a display title if you choose to showcase the student work on the wall. You can stretch this out to a full 40 minutes, or squeeze it in with a page of the textbook's reading section.

Excellent idea!

I did it with my classes but told them to leave their names off the posters. I then stuck them around the room and the other classes had to vote (by placing a sticker on the poster) for the president.

They loved it!

For the Art and Great People section of the chapter I was asked to make a ppt. on Florence Nightingale. I tried to use basic words and sentences. I'll just stick it on here in case it helps anyone out!

1. Here's a worksheet that I made to go with the introduction dialogue (look and listen and listen and repeat). After they complete the worksheet they can practice the dialogue with a partner.

2. Here is a slightly modified version of the secret code game that was posted on oct. 13. I fixed a couple of things, and added a dash for each missing letter.

My students made paper fortune tellers using "You will __." I tried to make sure they finished writing the English before decorating their fortune tellers~

Word intro with songs - no lyrics, just 4 possible word choices from the vocab. Students listen then select which one they think is correct. The song clip will play 3 times - once when you click the first time, once when you click on the correct word, and once when you click to change the slide.

Last slide is a crossword where students have to remember the words in the order of the song and try spelling them.

Fair warning - ppt only contains 8 vocab words and the phrase 'I will'.
