The spinner game is utilizing the clear plastic spinner in the resourse box sent by Changjae. Just print out, put the spinner over the picture and you're ready to go.

Speaking activity - Partner A and Partner B have different info on their papers. They have to ask questions to discover the differences.

Spy Game - I didn't make a PPT for this, instead I wrote the dates of the events on the board for the students who have a spy card (so they can lie).

Into the world PPT about holidays in Korea and around the world.

Hey all  :azn:

This is a game I came up with to play with the students. It includes vocabulary words from this chapter, as well as some review words from chapter 10.

Here's how the game works:

I have a ppt with scrambled vocabulary words. I then divided my class up into three teams, and made one person from each team come to the board to try to write the word correctly. The first person to write the word and squat (so I could see the answer) wins one point.

Here's another similar game, only the sentences are scrambled, and the students have to put them in the correct order.

Q&A wraparound game. credit to original creator - I just changed the vocabulary to this unit. Mix the cards and each student gets 1,2 or 3 cards depending on class size. Self explanatory - practices listening, speaking and reading. If students took too long to answer when their question was asked, they had to start from the beginning again until they got all the questions and answers covered without pausing for too long. They really concentrated for this and asked to play it agian so thank you to whoever came up with this idea!

Have some Battleships minus the sinking ships. Comes in your choice of Pirate or Halloween theme. The students enjoyed it and spoke a whole bunch.

Some notes regarding teaching ordinals:
We all know that 1st, 2nd and 3rd and their ilk are irregular, but it can be very easy to forget that so are 5th, 12th, 20th, 25th and 30th. The presumably non-native voice actor in the book even manages to stuff this up! If you draw attention to and drill 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th (ask if they can hear a 'v' sound) and 20th (ask how many claps long it is) then you can usually just guide the kids to "discover" the rest on their own.

My co-teacher asked to do the Sentence Unscramble Game yet again, so I prepped one up using the template I found on this site. Whoever first uploaded this idea, I'm greatly indebted to you; my boss loves this activity to bits as do the students. Takes a lot of prep printing and cutting, but I added in a secret code component to this one which might amuse your students. The PPT/printable uploads below are practically ready to go: Fill in the highlighted YOURNAMEHERE blanks, print, cut, place in envelopes marked 1-8, A-E, M-P and R). I cut my sentences up on word breaks, but also split the months into syllables (Jan-u-a-ry) and split the ordinal tails from the preceeding numerals (25-th).

To asist them with the spelling of the months, we're doing a simple wordsearch as a warm-up (again, there's a hidden sentence or two in the remaining letters to keep the hagwon superstars busy).

Guessing Game (Card Game, 16 pieces)

One student takes a card and asks the question, other students in turn take turns guessing the date. Student with the card says 'sooner' or 'later' in place of 'higher'/'lower'. Winner picks the next card. The cards have a handful of real life dates and whatever character birthdays I could find on them. Image hints on the rear. Just print, fold, glue and slice.

For Art and Great people section of the chapter I was asked by my co-teacher to make a ppt on Isaac Newton. I've tried to use very basic language.

My students had a pretty hard time with ordinal numbers, so this warm up helped them practice a bit. They have to find Con (the KakaoTalk character) and say his ordinal number.

They also made calendars to practice the months and writing ordinal numbers.

For this game, I combined musical chairs and ESL mingling/evolution games.

-Give each student 3 paper stars.
-Play some music. Students play rock, paper, scissors. Say the dialogue based on the RPS winner and loser.
-The RPS loser, give 1 star to the winner.
-Repeat with more students.
-Stop the music.
-All students quickly sit down in a chair except 2 students.
-These last students must race to pick up a designated object. (I used a sign I found in my office)
-The student who grabs the sign asks, "When is your birthday?"
-The student with no sign says, "My birthday is ___." (You can choose whether or not this student loses a star. I decided not to~)
-Play the music and play again~
-When finished, the student with the most stars is the winner.

I HAVE DELETED THIS LESSON AS IT IS BEING MONIIZED AGAINST THE CONTENT CREATOR'S WISHES.

I very much welcome an open source system and am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the sites decision to charge for content. I uploaded content with the understanding that it would be used freely by other teachers and do not agree with it being monetized without my consent. Due to this change I have felt it best to remove my work.

Thank you for all those who have shared in the past and I hope the site will retract its new policy and return to an open community-led system.

Here is a short speaking game, called Happy Bunnies. I got the template from another thread and made some changes.

There are 2 teams, each student has a turn to say the date. If there is a happy bunny behind the square the team one student from the other team goes to their side. If there is a sad bunny the student has go to the other team. The team with the most "bunnies" at the end of the game is the winner.

Bang card game (print 2 slides for one group) : Basically in a group of 3-5, each student takes a turn taking a card and saying the date. If they can say the date, they can keep the card. If they can't say it or make a mistake they have to put it back in the bag. If the get a "bang card" they lose all of their cards and put it back into the bag. There are more special cards explained in the ppt.  The person with the most cards when time is up is the winner.   ( I made the cards small, so it's less time consuming to cut. Just put the cards in a bag and tell students not to look in the bag.)

Hello

I collected bits and pieces from all over waygook to create these PPT's so thanks to everyone who posts.

The kids love running dictation and 4 corners.
I have added a really good video for learning the months of the year. I used the lyrics as the running dictation sheet.

Enjoy :3

This is a game that can be used for warmup or for speaking practice.  Credit to kchan91 who posted this game above...I just tweaked it a bit.

Students practice saying the ordinal numbers to find the Kakao character Con.  On each slide (except for the first slide which is just an example), there are 10 Con's hiding.  The students (either single or in teams) will say a date (January 21st for example).  Click on the Kakao character on that date and if Con is hiding there, he will pop up.  If not, it will just be a blank space.  Keep playing until all 10 Con's are found and then move on to the next slide.  The last 2 slides are with the months, so only 4 Cons are hiding there.

Thanks again to kchan91!

EDIT: Just played the game in class and realized I put two "22" days...oops.  Modified PPT.
