I played this in groups for period 1.  I let all of them answer before moving on to the next slide.  You may want to speed or slow down the animations.  I personally enjoyed telling them it was easy for the first few slides and then watching their faces become eager later.

They must use "There is" or "There are" in their responses.

Pretty simple stuff. It's not much, but it's something.

We combine the 2nd and 3rd session. Practice PPT and practice for Play Zone 3

5-6-4 PPT and Runner and Writer game.

5-6-5 and Blazing Pens game.

5-6-6

5-6-7 and a RPS game using the textbook L6 cards.

***EDIT*** Runner and Writer is like Running Dictation. I apologize for not explaining. We have 6 groups of 4 to students. We alter the rules depending on how well our students are picking up the lesson. If they're not doing well throughout the previous sections, this is a team (4 person) game. There is 1 runner, 1 writer and 2 checkers. If they're doing well it's a pair game. I place the 6 sheets in the hallway in various positions (upside down, sideways, right side up, etc) and in no particular order. Each team or pair chooses a number (1 - 6) and write it on their answer sheet BEFORE they see the sheets' positions.

Students are told that there is a point system. Punctuation and spelling matter. Say there are 10 questions. If a team has all 10 sentences written, but the 1st sentence has an error, then they are given 0 points. A second team has only 5 sentences. Sentence #4 has an error, they are granted 3 points. So the 2nd team wins. We did this to ensure that all teams are paying attention. Some of our best students write so quickly but don't double check, so the other students are given more of a chance. They really enjoy playing this way, as it has really given the lower level students a better chance at winning.

The runner and writer can switch if they are tired or just feel like switching.

Dice OMOK  or X/O game.

Instructions on paper, but:

4 in group, 2 in each team.

TEAM 1 (X):
Player 1 throws dice, looks at the number and looks at the animal corresponding to that number;
Player 2 throws the dice, looks at the number and looks at bottom line (zoo/room) corresponding to that number.
TEAM 1 makes a sentence where the 2 numbers thrown, meet on the page, "There is one tiger in the zoo. ." and marks X.

Then it is TEAM 2's (O)  turn.

They  have to get 4 X's/ O's in a line for a point.

The game "What's in the fridge?" matches up nicely with the grammar of this lesson. It takes about 20 mins with 5 groups / 3 lives each. My students tend to enjoy this game.

Here is a read and draw I used for the reading period.

I had the class split into 3 groups. Everyone had a half sheet of paper. Everyone read the first sentence (each group read the sentence corresponding with their group number) and drew what it said. I set a 1 minute timer, and when it went off they passed their paper to the person behind them and then do the same for sentence 2, etc. It went over really well!

Also, as an intro, I showed them pictures of my parents house in the USA- the outside, the kitchen, the living room, etc. I'd highly recommend doing that if you can!

I never shared anything on waygook - so here goes.

Animals ppt - with plenty of gifs.  The file is close to 130 megs, I think.  I edited a ppt that I got from here and added tons of gifs.  There is a game at the end which came with the original ppt.

And this is 'guess what animal is making this sound' game -
It's around 150 megs.

I made a word search and a clue/guess worksheet to learn some of the vocab and some animals.  The words for the word search are also the answers for the "Who Am I" worksheet.

Used computer online game for my class to introduce topic - also had them play on the computers - you can do it without a computer - I have a very small class and it's in the IT room anyway.

I took the game that is posted above, "What's in the Fridge?", and made cards to go with it.

http://eslgamesbox.com/2013/03/16/whatisthere/

I had three teams (I have big classes, so having each student play is hard!) and each team started with three points.  If they guessed correctly, I have them more points based on how many were in the room.  For example if they asked, "Is there a chair?" and there are three chairs in that room, I gave them three points.  They loved it!

So far I just have played, "What's in the room?"  If I could do it again I would make the kitchen and the living room more interesting.  Maybe adding more TVs or sinks or something.
Also, I might redo some of the rooms.  For example, every class asked if there was a bathtub first (instead of shower....but I don't even have a bathtub in Korea, nor does anyone I know, so I didn't choose it!) and every class (and there are ten classes) asked if their was a pencil in the bedroom...but I didn't even think about having school supplies in the bedroom!  Most of the objects are found in their book for this lesson, so if I gave a hint I would tell them to look in their books.

I am playing the animal cards tomorrow (What's in the zoo?) for my extra classes.  This time I am going to put different colored post it's on some of the photos and have one color mean they will get double points (so if there are two of the animal they guessed, they will get four points) or they will lose the points (if there are two of the animal they guessed, they will lose two points).

They seem to really enjoy guessing games!  Feel free to change it however you want, this isn't perfect at all!

Thanks to the original poster for the idea for this game!

This lesson has a lot of there, their and they're in it.  I found a good video to explain the differences between the three and I made a worksheet to go with it!

Disclaimer: The worksheet isn't perfect.  The second box on the top is outside of the margins, but when I try to adjust it it ruins the sentences, so I just left it.  If someone is better at Word and I am, please fix it!

I haven't done this lesson yet, but I plan on going through the first part of the video two times (maybe just watching it one time, then the second time filling out the worksheet with it) then doing the quiz.  After, check the answers together as a class.

Update: I downloaded the video and have attached it to this post.
