Matching Reading Game.

Teams need to choose 2 blocks, read them and they can get one point if they are a match. Click on the circle on the block if they aren't a match. This will close the blocks again.

Writing: Halloween cartoon characters Telepathy game!

Let students choose and write down one word/sentence.
Reveal the word/sentence. They get one point if they chose the same one.

(This is an awesome template! Thanks to the original creator. I tweaked it for this lesson. It is easy to edit.)

My students like this "What's going to happen next" activity. I used it in period 4 instead of the textbook game activity and the timing was perfect (it takes about 20 mins, depending on how fast you go).

There are a lot of words they don't know, so I added translations for the hard parts. And I didn't make them write sentences - they just marked the one they thought was the answer.

Here's what I got for this lesson, as always be sure to check this post every now & again as I'll be editing it if/when I make more ppt's for the later parts of the lesson.

Slap game: Divide the class into two teams, 2 students come up to the front and have their back facing the TV screen with fly swatters. Everyone asks me "What are you going to do this vacation?" I answer "I'm going to ____." Both students then turn around & the first person to slap the correct activity on the TV using the fly swatter gets a point for their team. (Ideal for the first period)

for Period 1 - I stole the 'Liar' card game idea from somewhere else on here. edited the PPT on how to play. This should be played using the picture cards on p. 303 of the textbook. If you haven't played this game before, it's basically the card game "Bullshit". Leave the last slide up on the screen when the students play so that they can see what each card corresponds to.

for Period 2 - Information gap activity. Print out the first two slides. the 3rd slide is just a brief explanation of how to play. demonstrate with your co-teacher. students work in pairs. give one student the slide labelled 'A' and the other student the slide labelled 'B'. students use the dialog to find out their partner's schedule and fill it in on the sheet.

i also edited the some of the pictures and text in the Plants vs Zombies game posted above so that it more closely fits the dialog in the chapter. going to use this for Period 3. I also fixed the triggers in the PPT - they plants weren't disappearing when i clicked on them. probably a compatibility issue, so I've saved it now in PPT 2010 format.

A wordsearch where they have to fill in the blanks and then search for those words in the wordsearch. The answer key for the blanks is on the ppt.

with thanks to @Kwai_Chang_Kain, I used your slap game and added a lot of variations to it. Some, you'll notice, are repeats, but it saved the hassle of going backwards in the ppt if you needed more slides to use. The added pictures were mostly there to confuse them (didn't always work, smart kids). The kids loved this, we just played boys against girls, had the two standing up to ask me the question: "What are you going to do on your vacation?" If I was to do it again, I would get random kids to stand up and choose the "I'm going to..." for the competitors to slap.

This post is in response to the What's going to happen next activity. I made a ppt as a warm-up activity. Each group of 4-5 students holds up 1, 2, or 3 fingers to give their answers. I like to have each group leader hold up their fingers so there is no confusion. The team the has the most correct guesses wins.

This is a really fun activity. Thanks to the original poster!

A four corners game! I found the game on another thread and I just added the pictures and sentences. Also, if your students are more advanced, instead of having them write their names you could have them write the key sentences.

Here is a different version of the "What's going to happen". I took most of it (with some changes) from a "Predictions" lessons off of waygook.

Students watch a few seconds of a video, guess what is going to happen, then watch the rest.

Keep in mind, prior to the draw, the whole class has to ask a question - and the two 'cowboys' need to listen to the questions very carefully in order to answer correctly.
