I began my lesson with a video intro to the seasons; and then showed a slightly altered powerpoint that I found under the non-textbook section involving seasons. I added the end slides in which i showed clues of a particular season and then had them guess which it was. I ended the lesson by having them practice dialogue using the key expressions to describe their favorite seasons and why.

2. PPT intro to seasons and vocabulary.
3. Story 1 and Questions
4. Listen & check and Mini quiz
5. Mini talk (dialogue practice) What season do you like? I like __ because __
6. Listen and Do
7. Castle battle game.
Draw names / numbers - when it is their number, student have to stand up and say :

I'm including the Intro PPT with vocab/key expressions and also some games I made (but took the templates off of waygook). If I create more materials I'll add them at a later date~ Happy teaching ^.^

Intro PPT Every period
Vocab words used in the chapter, and key expressions. I included vocab pictures from both the textbook, and from the internet. Vocab words are in both English and Korean. I also included some key expressions, which are also both in English and Korean.

Find the Candy Game 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th period
This is originally just meant to be a reading game! But I changed it up, and added 2 slides in the beginning where the students translate the Korean words/sentences into English. Let students raise their hands and choose who you want. They can choose any sentence, and read it. Once they read it, you click on the sentence. If there is a candy behind the sentence, give them a piece of candy~

Snakes and Ladders 1st, 2nd, or 3rd period
Just print out the last slide and hand out the game to the students. You can have them play in groups or pairs. No dice needed (students will do rock, paper, scissors to move on the board). Game pieces are also optional (I make my students use their own erasers as markers/to move on the board).

*Update 12/02/2015: I'm posting a Pokemon Bomb Game I will play during the WU period. I didn't make this game, I simply edited the template that Sprite made! I'm zipping the game with the fonts you need to install before playing the game.

This game tests vocab, asks students to translate Korean>English, fill in the blank, and sentence unscramble questions. My students are all pretty low level, so feel free to adjust the questions~

Using someone else's template, I revised the Magic Tiles game for this lesson.  Groups work together to make a sentence using the word tile they choose, and then when you click the tile Ss can get plus/minus points, a bomb, or 'switch points.' There's an evil laugh when minus points appear and the sound effect makes my students laugh. ;)

1) Evolution Game, adapted from someone else's template. My students like this.
2) Pass the ball for practicing "What season do you like?" "I like ___ because ___".
3) A writing game -"What's behind" style. Straightforward.

The speaking game in the textbook (period two) also works well.

Printable group dice grid game-

Group of 4: 2 in a team
Team A: Student 1 throws dice, looks at the number (vertical line)
Student 2 throws dice, looks at the number (horizontal line) and they
              mark the block
              where the 2 meet
              - get points for that block if they say the correct expression
Team B: " "

*DISCLAIMER* My co-t is always "busy" so be sure you get someone to check over the Korean words & expressions before using in class.

As always, if/when I make more ppt's I'll edit this post & attach them here. Happy teaching!

Intro: Pretty self explanatory. (Ideal for the first period)

Slap game: Divide the class into two teams, 2 students come up to the front and have their back facing the TV screen (and me) with fly swatters. The students who are still seated will ask the question "What season do you like?" I then reply "I like ____ because ____." Both students then turn around & the first person to slap the correct picture on the TV using the fly swatter gets a point for their team. (Ideal for the first period or second period)

Period 2 & 3 Intro: Added some extra slides to review the key expressions. There's also some hidden slides to introduce the new expressions "What is he/she doing?" & "He/She is ____." for Period 3 as I plan to use the same intro for that period too. (Ideal for the second & third period)

Heads Up 7 Up game: Instructions included in the PPT as well as a PDF of the play zone 1 picture cards if you need them. I only have 12 students in my class so that's why the PPT just has 6 students coming to the front but if you have enough students you can change it to have 7 come up at a time. (Ideal for the second period)

Plants VS Zombies game: Grid based question & answer game, I have two students from the same team make a dialogue with each other in order to choose the letter or number and get the points. (Ideal for the third period)

some stuff from me that i used successfully for this chapter.

The seasons survey and the writing sheet are straight-up plundered from older/other threads, so i can't take credit for them, but they are great so i'm including them here. thanks to the original creators for your nice materials  8)

my students LOVED the reading game that the 'reading cards' are for. You could probably use this for the speaking section too though. There is an explanation on how to play on the first slide of that ppt. It might seem a little complicated, but just demonstrate it to your students, and they should get it. Most of my students got it without my CT even having to explain in korean.

Also, my students REALLY love this seasons song by Pancake Manor. I even here them singing it in the halls sometimes in between their regular classes haha. I've included a lyric sheet for it (fill in some blanks), as well as for a Storybots song i got from another thread. But i asked my students to vote on which song they prefered and the overwhelming majority preferred the Pancake Manor song.

I also made a handout to give to my students about reasons for liking the different seasons. I found that really useful to refer back to throughout the chapter. So give it to your students and tell them to keep it in their english file or stick it in their book or something.

This was a great idea! But, I changed it slightly.  I had students play in groups of 4. They roll the dice 2 times (1st for vertical and 2nd for horizontal) and write their name in the box after saying the correct sentence.  The student who has the most boxes filled is the winner.  If a student lands on a different student's box, then they do rock/paper/scissors.  If the new student wins, then erase the old student's name and steal their box.  I let them play for about 15 minutes and it was a lot of fun.  They love trying to steal other student's boxes :)

Also, I made a ppt to practice the expressions.
Thanks again!

Here's a quick Thing vs. Thing ppt so that the kids can offer "I like ____ because _____" opinions.  You'll probably have to help out with extra adjectives, but otherwise this went over really well.  I had students talk as a class but for high level classes you could have students talk together.

Yeah I'm a big fan of Kwai_Chang_Kain 's format for introduction PPTs.  I pull the Korean translations from the DVD program so I don't need to depend upon my co-teacher to translate.

Attached is my own interpretation.

I run the writing game as a group activity. An image from the introduction shows up on screen, and the students write the English word on their individual whiteboards. The fastest team gets 3 points, the next team gets 2 points, the last team gets 1 point (if they finish). I use monopoly money to distribute points. I make sure that each group has a top 3 student who can lead the lower level students who are new to the vocabulary. At the end of the game each team totals their points, and they line up to leave the class in the order of their ranking.

Review game for Lesson 13. It's all translating Korean sentences and spelling the vocab in English. Best for the end of the chapter.

Hi so I edited a Adventure Time bomb game I found somewhere else on the sight. Thank you to the creator of the original game, it was really well made and creative. There's a few review questions from chapter 12 in the game but mostly it covers chapter 13. Hope it's helpful!

Monster Island ~ 3D animated intro. Make sure you watch it all once before class, so the videos can buffer ~ Link Below:
