For the listening class, I took a ppt off of one of the old book's boards about the history of the names of the month. It's edited slightly here, but I actually had to edit it A LOT more because my CT kind of freaked at the presence of "sextillus" as the Roman word for August. She decided the 6th graders couldn't handle it and so I had to edit out and reorganize parts of it on the classroom computer, so run it by your CT first.
So, first we sand the Susan Salidor song, same as the person above, to review months.
We reviewed ordinal numbers on the board and used the Ordinal Numbers Racing Song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0O6ZE75Ebw For this activity, we divided students into groups, like "multiples of 3" and "multiples of 4" and had students clap each time they heard a number that fell into that set. So, one group is clapping on 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, etc. and the other is clapping on 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, etc. We did it once with the words on the screen and the second time with only the audio.
Finally, we returned to the ppt. I printed a year in review calander - I used the attached one from hellocuteness.com I showed students the US holidays and said "It's _____" like Christmas "It's December 25th". They had to write the name of the holiday above the month and circle the date on their worksheet.
