Here are my materials.  Period one is a map game for teams.  The team chooses a place on the map.  When you click, they see a portion of the map and have to give directions between two places, or describe where the place is (next to the bank, etc).  It is by way of being a bomb game.  I'm including 2 versions: the gif one (more fun) keeps resetting the selection screen on my computer, for some reason--I've never had this problem before, but maybe you won't.  REMOVED

My period 2 activity is about a vacation I took in Thailand.  There is a map of a little beach village and students have to give directions to various places.  The book seems to be dealing a lot with Thailand, so I thought this might link up.  Not sure if it will be useful to others, though.  REMOVED

Period 3 is another team activity where they have to identify the location (museum, flower shop) even though almost the whole picture is hidden. As more is revealed, the point value goes down. Some may be easier than others, so I put on a selection slide.  REMOVED

Period 4, station writing activity.  My kids enjoy this activity a lot.  Complete instructions included. REMOVED

Period 5, is English Espionage game.  Students decode messages off the screen working in teams.  They are trying to find out where to meet the secret agent.  This is quite fun, and it is writing practice.  Full instructions inside.  I'm attaching the Mission Impossible mp3 just in case, but it should be embedded.  You need one code sheet hand-out per team.  REMOVED

Using this for period 2 to go over directions and key sentences.
Good for review for any period though!

Very fun reading game for Period 4 and video practice.

Align the individual papers on 12 different desks. Half the students sit the other half play.  The standing students go in a line and read each paper. After reading the play Rock Paper Scissors.  If the standing students loses he/she gets another chance. If the standing student wins he/she moves on to the next person.

This continues until any standing student can beat all 12 sitting students in a row. He will have 2 chances to win every turn.  I usually give any winners a candy, but it's quite hard yet fun and challenging.

After 10 minutes sitting and standing switch and the same thing is repeated.

To speed things up I have boys at one end of the line and girls at the other end so that there are 2 groups playing simultaneously which cuts waiting time in half.

Here's a reading game I made a few years ago (one of the first things I ever made for class!)

Print out the worksheet and give one to each student. Have then read (or listen to you read) each of the directions and then write in the boxes for each building they go to. For the diamond part I had them turn the pages so that way the diamond was on the bottom (so go straight would be towards the library not up). I only gave prizes to those that had all three correct answers.

Also, ignore that it's "Chapter 2 worksheet" that was for the previous book.

"Sparkle" reading game I will use for period 4 but I reckon it's good for any period past 4 as well. It has dialogue from lessons 1-4. Explanation of game is included in the first slides.
Enjoy!

Pokemon review game attached.

Be careful of 'what is the current month' which might need changing unless you happen to be reading this in June 2016!

Bingo cards for vocab review.

Nice formatting for saving paper and slightly longer game (4x4, 4 to a page).

Game where they say the directions that the car has done. Can be done quickly and used as a memory game.

I made a review activity/game as a refresher on prepositions that I will do as a motivator/intro to this lesson.  It's called "Preposition Park".  Students complete sentences based on gif animations of dinosaurs, mainly from the Jurassic Park franchise.

There is a slide for teachers with info about how you might use it.

4.1 For my intro I gave students hints about different buildings/businesses and they had to guess which one I was thinking about. I also introduced main expressions.
Game is the Grab Game--students look at the picture on the screen and teacher says a sentence. If the sentence matches the picture, students race to grab an eraser first.

4.2 Review: Students look at the map while I give directions and they guess where I'm going by answering "Where is the ______?" Game: I modified the book game so it could be played without dice. Students play as partners and do rock-paper-scissors to determine how many spaces to move.

Here is a warmer / filler to flex the spatial orientation neurons - and drill left and right.  Inspired by past experience teaching dance.  I flashed pictures of body parts (plus some arrows and shoes) fairly quickly, and had the students write L or R.  Most of the pictures are rotated or cropped somehow to make it challenging.  I had fun with this, but my students were oddly subdued today so I'm not sure they did.  Anyway, they all participated and it accomplished my goals - it got them moving around and thinking between some dull directions dialogues.

Please edit before using: There are two slides at the end with a "spinning lady" optical illusion.  You might not want to show either slide to your class.  I love this illusion but I could not find a version where body contours are not distractingly obvious.  Also, if you go slowly, there will be too many slides, so remove some if needed.

I used the key vocabulary from this lesson and made a One Piece-themed adaptation of the "dungeon maze game" that's been floating around waygook for a while.  Over here in the original thread:

http://www.waygook.org/index.php/topic,79052.msg624177.html#msg624177

I plan to have the students start out with simple directions - go straight, turn right, etc.  Once their maps are more filled out, I'll let them say "go straight three blocks and turn right".  Hopefully the game goes faster that way.  Since the map orientation is fixed, I wouldn't use this until/unless your students are clear on the meanings of "straight" and "turn".

Coin flick game based on the map and graphics from adamzero's awesome Sonic intro PPT.  Thanks, adamzero!  We played with the rule that you sign your name and "own" the building after you give correct directions to it.  Otherwise, I let my students decide their own rules within their pairs; most played that if you miss a building, flick again.  YMMV when printing from PowerPoint, so I'm including a PDF.

Reading game for period 4. The kids love this game although you are probably going to need your coteacher to explain it to them. Make sure you explain the game to your co before hand. Also, i got a little lazy with the pictures. It doesn't take anything away from the game though. Enjoy.
